GPS used to be intentionally inaccurate for every non military user till the early 2000s iirc - selective availability

The US did an exercise where they tested a simulated Hind against planes in a gunfight and found that the helicopter actually won nearly every time: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J-CATCH So I assume helicopter versus helicopter fights could just as well happen, but I don't know what happened in that video.

Only way to prevent someone from getting GPS in an area is to literally turn it off.

I only worked with commercial applications and we weren't super concerned about about an actual GPS shutdown (because if it happened we'd have bigger problems), just that it was possible and that's why multiple systems exist.

There's better and worse signal from each system depending on where you are in the world and what time of day it is I worked in agricultural autoguidance where being off by an inch or two could be a big deal. You'd sometimes switch the set of satellites a couple times a day. Or pay extra for the option to connect to everything at once and the system would switch out for you.

I think they stopped the accurate GPS restrictions when Russia got glosnass operational. There was no point restricting them at that point and all it was doing was artificially making its use in civilian applications difficult.
