I was looking on the internet for information about what happened to the semiconductor company my mom and stepfather met at while they were working there in the early 80s they apparently made GaAs FETs there, per what little info I could find and it turns out that there are companies that still sell parts they made there If I had any combination of the time, the space, the tools, and the talent, I'd definitely want to see if I could make a stompbox out of (or at least including) parts from that place (not as some kind of weird gift, but for me) I have no idea what this does or how it operates beyond what it says on the label and markings, because I'm bad at electronics, but it's from there and would probably look cool hacked into something usable and attached to a pedalboard

Beato made a video back in December, and happily there is a part where it's cranked up in volume, and also an isolated solo. I definitely preferred Beato when he went into the theory side of things, because as a former Music Major that's the poo poo that gets my balls tingling, I always love brushing up on it. However, I can't fault the guy for wanting to make a living via the trashheap of YouTube and realizing that teaching that poo poo isn't going to get clicks or pay the bills. That said I completely stopped watching him lol.

I know you guys love Steve Vai so I wanted to mention that Joe Bonamossa had him on his Nerdville YouTube interview show. It was fun to have in in the background while I did dishes, and Vai talked a bit about his lessons with Satch back in the day. Like, Joe told Steve to learn the notes on the neck for the next lesson but Steve didn’t so Joe just sent him home in disgust. Joe was a hard rear end, I think Kirk said the same thing.
