I guess my question is how do you determine whether something is over $40? What if a card you use just happens to rise in price due to speculator fuckery? I have a copy of Eater of the Dead in my Mairsil deck that was $3.50 when I bought it but now is something like $45 because someone is (alleged to be) buying up copies of it.

Case by case basis. You'd probably need to discuss certain cards and maybe allow cards that shot up due to random influence, but maybe later ban it if the price sticks and/or the card proves worthy of it's price due to new cards giving it support. I think the big discussion is about cards that are expensive because it only had maybe one printing and is out of print, but then that also includes powerhouses like Dockside Extortionist and Ragavan.

Here's my upcoming Grolnok deck, I welcome any feedback!

I definitely read him wrong when I first built the deck, and missed the "permanents" part on what gets a croak counter  The Sideboard are cards a buddy is giving me, while the Considering list is everything I need to track down. I went no instants/sorceries, with the goal be to exponentially increase the croaked cards until you can find a win condition of drawing out, or until you overwhelm the board with frogsects or frogbats, from Crawling * or from Desecrated Tomb.

I didn't want it to always be "draw until you find Thassa's Oracle/Hermit Druid/Jace, so I added in a bit of creature fun to mix it up. Hoping to have it built by this weekend and played ASAP :toot:

Springleaf the Magda and 2 mountains is what I saw. He didn't need to crack a treasure unless I missed something myself.

Toshimo
Aug 23, 2012

He's outta line...

But he's right!
He untaps with:
• Magda
• Springleaf
• 2 Mountains
• 1 Treasure

He taps both mountains and moves the treasure to the side, as if to say he's cracking it.

He plays the automaton.

Then he attacks with Magda for 3, picks up another treasure, puts it on top of the one he set aside, and then continues with both in play.

The sequence starts here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1McAdMNN9nI&t=10273s

Again, he does this sort of thing several times throughout the match. And this wound up being his 5th treasure next turn, prompting the Rogakh/Tevesh player to Pyro a Remora and board wipe, because his board was getting out of hand. He may not have won the match, but his sloppy play definitely affected the other players.

Robviously

Watching it again, yeah you're absolutely correct.

Even playing fast and loose with that token, I'm surprised no one caught him playing a Automaton for 2.

I just cannot watch footage with that attention to detail. In person I’m a total hawk for permanents and tokens and people leaving their spells on the battlefield and not in the graveyard, but flattening it down to two dimensions just uses a different part of my brain and I would never notice anything like that in 1,000,000 years.

https://twitter.com/mookdoesgames/status/1502047654905368579?s=21

Shame he cheated, whether intentionally or not. Hopefully he wasn’t being a cheezeburger during the whole God of Commander tournament. I have to assume at that level of play the other players would be a little more judicious, I can only surmise that in Top 4 of a 2-day, 125 person tournament everyone’s brain is just completely bone dry
