No, then the curse will jump to Cayla. She will mourn, and then one day she will inexplicably be compelled to write a book. "Les' Legacy" she'll call it. There will be a charity run. A non-profit. And the cycle continues, the cancer spreads...

He'll make a big show of making the comic about a woman but then she would more and more move into the background while old white dudes argue about dead cancer wives.

Gonna continue thinking about Dustin more than its creators may or may not be thinking about it:
Skelly really has no idea how people buy things anymore, does he? Not even buying a vacuum in a regular big box store, which could be reasonable. No, he thinks people are still going specifically to a vacuum service center(/store?) to buy one.

I think it was during the online shopping phishing arc that Toby gave herself panic attacks imagining what Ian would say when he found out she'd got their credit card canceled or whatever, and then he was like "nah, it could happen to anyone."

I'm not sure what that says about their relationship in itself, but it would actually be kind of interesting if this was a consistent character trait of Toby's somehow.

Monya the Grey

End of chapter 1! It's worth pointing out a couple of things now that the pieces are in place - the red-haired girl is Dorothy Gale, and her dog is Toto, and they are in fact in Oz, but Q-Rais is using The Wizard of Oz as a motif or jumping-off point only, so while a lot of things will resemble stuff from the movie or books, it's all going to be very fundamentally different. In the same vein, we'll find out in a couple pages that Monya is Baba Yaga's granddaughter, but besides being a witch who rides in a mortar she has nothing in common with the figure from Slavic folklore.
