Update on the elderly girl-kitty:
Her owner has not been "home" for three weeks and has no idea where she is nor how well she is being treated by the person actually in the apartment (apparently an unsavory fellow) or if she's even alive/not out on the street. My colleague can't go herself; the owner has to go with her and for whatever reasons (see: poor mental health) is abdicating all responsibility. And now I'm all worked up and anxious over a cat I've never even seen. (This is your brain on toxoplasmosis)
My colleague also said she just couldn't find anyone else, so if all is well with the cat, then she will be coming to live with me. Poor little beast.
