Yeah, the manga is light and fun reading, but the manga is also not 30 minutes at a time with half of that being like completely pointless and meandering. If it was a more short form thing, I think it would have been better, but there just wasn't enough to the source material for what they tried to do with the adaptation. If they had spent the effort they had used on the dumb live action gimmick on actually giving some meat to the manga material bones and made each episode half the length, it would have been a better product.
