aew's ranking system is absolutely fine as long as you don't make the mistake of assuming the snapshot we get every week of it is permanent and canonical people are gonna go up and down in rankings as they have matches, and someone getting a streak of wins going 'artificially' by fighting not so good people on dark will end up getting matched up against better competitors because of it. if they lose they'll go back down in rank, closer to where they should naturally be; if they keep winning then they start getting more and more justified for a title shot or similar

Sometimes I think I might watch a Roman/Brock match to see if they're good and then I remember that I can practically let it play out from memory. Brock dominates early with Suplexes, eventually gets countered with three superman punches, they trade finishers until the finish. Every time.
