They updated it where if you manage your pledge and just pick the same reward you did, you can fiddle with the add-ons. Instructions are under Update 8, I think, and it does the math for you

Charles making top 16 with bad Heliod makes me so mad, I can’t stand that guy and that Heliod SUCKS. Magda in top seed is so wild, and seeing more Thrasios than Tymna is unexpected

Reasonably fast and can play under a RoL?

I think it’s a good call because Marchesa was always going to be a small handful of Turbo Naus players wading into a swamp of HELLSTAX and Magda not only plays through Stax but she’s also like Edric, she’s just a straight up cEDH Aggro deck. People have never sleeved up fewer Deluges/Rifts/Covenants, literally every single cEDH content creator agrees we should all be running more spot removal and artifact hate… but that would entail cutting our powerful creatures and mana rocks, and those are the FUN cards! I imagine a lot of games are gonna end with Stax players protecting their pieces and countering removal while a bunch of otherwise unplayable dwarves swing in for 16, make 5 treasures and just hold up deflecting swat or REB while they beat everyone to death. And honestly, that sounds like a really awesome format to me, lol!

It helps that I have a good group, but CEDH has been the most fun I’ve had with magic in a long rear end time. Excuse me while I add all these Magda pieces to a TCGPlayer cart

If I hadn’t bruteforced multiple cEDH playgroups into existence then I would have quit magic TBH. cEDH also reinvigorated my love of deckbuilding, which is the only thing keeping me playing casual commander anymore, just seeing if my brews hold up. It’s like getting to play with legacy cards except I get to hang out with 3 of my friends at once instead of just 1. cEDH fuckin slaps.

Why do you guys think this Magda deck is on this Dragon line instead of the Pyrite Spellbomb line? That was a cool game. Winning on your end step on top of a Curse of Silence lol. It's also good to know that people accidentally kingmaking by blowing up relevant stax pieces at bad times happens at the absolute highest tier of play. fadam fucked around with this message at 21:35 on Mar 27, 2022 |

fadam posted:Top 16 decklists for Marchesa: This deck here made me pee my pants laughing. Why? Because of this card: Is this a bomb? No. Is this a good card? No. It's terrible. It's one of the worst cards ever. Dwarven Trader is worse than Mons Goblin Raiders, which is worse than another card in the very same set, Goblin Balloon Brigade. And yet this card was played in a famous deck: Jay Schneider's Sligh Deck. Now, over 25 years later, Dwarven Trader gets pulled out of the bulk common box and finds a place in another winning deck. Magic is kinda weird sometimes.

Beating $10k decks to death with a vanilla 1/1 for R is the most powerful thing you can do in Magic the Gathering.

I think people underestimate exactly how powerful simply being 1 CMC is. Especially if your commander can easily apply a lot more advantages to it, like that dwarf.

Koibito did more for mono-color cEDH in one day than half a dozen completely busted commanders have done in the last 5 years. Some of the biggest creators in the game were laughing and doubting this was even a viable deck. Basically get wrekt snobs!

Yep, the best thing in Magic is anytime someone busts out something that is completely out of left field, wrecks shop, and demonstrates ways to shake up the meta. I love this kind of stuff. I'm going to go look lovingly at my own lovely copy of Dwarven Trader now.

I've drawn a lot of aggro with my magda deck, but it's pretty obvious you don't want to let me start accruing treasures as fast as i do. i still need to slot mean stuff like blood moon and sulfuric buttered in to go with my innocent seven seven dwarves.

I mistakenly thought the Magda player was Brazilian, but Koibito is apparently from Oregon and his Magda list is just the traditional Brazilian Magda list with some minor spice (the hellkites) Here is their social media, it’s very small. https://twitter.com/rgt_clubhouse?s=21&t=mMJwLkfiu8xb3kDzribQDA

42 Tweet thread about why 3rd place in Top 16 of Marchessa doesn’t run Sol Ring https://twitter.com/ilvaldi/status/1508603750537220099?s=21&t=57yG43zLt7Upv4ZpfndLTw There’s a tweetlonger that condenses it into merely a term paper about planning your turns out. Full disclosure I think Charles sleeps with a CPAP machine hooked up to a tank of his own farts and he is INSUFFERABLE to listen to talk about how good he is at magic, but everyone in the scene is convinced that he is a genius and here is some insight into his deckbuilding process.

Yes, this is Charles AKA The Mono-White Guy, and he plays bad Heliod. I can stomach all sorts of stuff in my Content, but the specific way Charles blows smoke up his own butthole about how he is subversive genius who sees things before anyone else and is always 10 steps ahead of the meta and blah blah blah. I guess he wrote for CFB or SCG or whatever but any episode of Mindsculptors with him is an instant skip. The real shame is that he has a podcast with Michael Levine, who is one of my favorite players and the originator of GOOD Heliod, my favorite deck. I would’ve killed for a podcast with Michael, but his cohost is basically the one person besides Saffron Olive who could kill it dead for me.

Well the main one is the version of Heliod. The more common deck uses Heliod, Sun Crowned because it's a one-card combo with Walking Ballista. Charles runs Heliod, God of the Sun instead.
