Total Warham 1 is worth grabbing because its various factions and generals and whatever can be played with in Total Warhammer 2's big map mode if that ever goes for free or if you already own it. I also believe that they will eventually work in Total Warhammer 3 as well? So yeah, grab it if you don't have it yet. It makes other games even better!

The issue with TWWH1 is that every aspect of it was improved in TWWH2. You need a great mental discipline to play it today knowing that you could play the same game but vastly improved if you'd bought TWWH2 in addition. So look at it as an additional price cut for TWWH Mortal Empires bundle.

Yeah TWWH1 was good at the time but now I can only recommend it as a way to unlock stuff in TWWH2 or (eventually) 3. You're also missing some key units if you don't have the two unit DLCs.

The only total war game I've tried is Medieval Total War II Gold on Steam. I wanted to like it, but I bounced off it hard. Edit: I just now finally twigged that Epic has a cart. Apparently they added it last December and I just now noticed. I was so used to not having one I would 'buy' everything one at a time. I thought the expansion severely hampered my enjoyment of XCOM 2. Forced, verbose boss battles are very much the opposite of what I want from that series. And they removed the loadout music and replaced it with far inferior stock for some insane reason. I know there's a mod to re-add it, but it's not dynamic like the original.
