The English Learning corners are surprisingly up there in terms of enjoyment factor---almost to the Noodles Realm. Thanks for another fine episode...seeing the pandemic protocols in this ep was definitely a bit of a wince as I want to say no prior ep has happened to hit so deep on this contemporary timeline on it compared to The Better Before Times.

DVD are fine for standard definition content, and films/other HD content can still look good if using a higher bitrate via dual-layer or multiple discs. The Criterion Collection is the gold standard for DVD mastering. Watching on a CRT also helps hide flaws.

Pretty weird to prefer SD MPEG-2 video for newly produced content in 2022 but ok you guys have fun.

While we are talking about DVD's, does anyone have any insight on whether the GCCX style of DVD boxes is the standard practice in Japan or something they like to do? I mean a season box where there's only a handful ("selection") of episodes, not a full season - since it can't be a matter of space on the disk. Is it because of licensing, or something else?

Japan loves gouging the poo poo out of people for physical media and releasing messy collections. Edit: to be more specific, dvds and other stuff historically get priced and print runs sized only at die-hards of a particular program so they charge outrageous prices and drip feed content in case they'll buy a second helping.
