R. Guyovich posted:beijing has everything since it's the capital. china's secret best food city. move out of your fail techbro fishing hamlet hard disagree. while beijings ok/good, when I lived in wuhan 6 years ago the food was much better (and cheaper). even the variety was much better because of the huge international student population. I have no idea if that's still around though. Also, in my vacations (so probably not accurate) I've felt that the food in sichuan region cities (chengdu, chongqing) is better, although I wouldn't be surprised if theres much less variety living there. the problem with bj food is that real estate and rent prices are so high, that most of the restaurants you see are chains or following whatever trend is popular (like HK food for the last 6 months). so many malls with the exact same restaurants. nobody wants to try out something new. I like to eat at the food courts around the city, but that's cause I'm extremely cheap and I feel that that's where the competition and taste are the best. in those food courts its be delicious or die.

Breakfast All Day posted:free market capitalism with chinese food court characteristics it does sound weird but there are very good restaurants in shopping malls here. it's not where you find the best chinese food though, that tends to be in hutongs or in the more renowned food areas like 牛街, the muslim quarter Mirello posted:hard disagree. while beijings ok/good, when I lived in wuhan 6 years ago the food was much better (and cheaper). even the variety was much better because of the huge international student population. Guyovich posted:it does sound weird but there are very good restaurants in shopping malls here. it's not where you find the best chinese food though, that tends to be in hutongs or in the more renowned food areas like 牛街, the muslim quarter that's true. living in china we are spoiled for food. the local restaurants and chains do tend to be really good compared to american crap. there's this 6 kuai (1$) per plate sushi conveyer belt place my wife and I used to go to every week called sushi express, that's actually pretty high quality. and I do actually enjoy kaoya, even though I can only eat it like once every two months. I'm not really a fan of lu zhu though lol, the texture is like drinking mucuous. my beijinger wife actually took me to a lu zhu place on our first date lol. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luzhu_huoshao) that's definitely right that the quality of the regional cuisine here is good. I can go to basically any restaurant and expect it to be reasonably good and authentic. all the international food is in sanlitun, which is too much of a pain in the rear end for me to go to/from. I can't believe the subway station there is only opening next year. oh well.

It's less looking to invade Pakistan, than it is allowing separatists to operate across the border. https://twitter.com/PKForwardEN/status/1509741090408054792 https://twitter.com/TheWilsonCenter/status/1498503549612875781 https://twitter.com/pulse_pakistan/status/1492861123607117828 And, of course, you can blame the usual intelligence service for encouraging the different separatist groups to work together to attack the BRI https://twitter.com/MichaelKugelman/status/1289650872117428224 lol at the date on this tweet. Not that it's happening anytime soon. indigi posted:why would Iran or Afghanistan help Balochi separatists don’t they also want to separate from those countries? I thought “Balochistan” was part of all three According to the al-Monitor article, Iran doesn't actually want to. They're just not cracking down on the bases enough. quote:Meanwhile, Alex Vatanka, director of the Iran Program at the Middle East Institute in Washington and author of a book on Iran-Pakistan ties, told Al-Monitor, “There is no evidence of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps wanting to support the attacks inside Pakistan. The trend has been to respect Pakistan's sovereignty and Iran does not want confrontation. I would not say that the Iranian regime does not have the potential, but it would not wish to get involved in this matter. As Iran has a potential Sunni militant problem itself, it does not make sense for it to support any sectarian — or separatist — movement.” But that doesn't stop angry Pakistani nationalists from accusing Iran of supporting terrorists https://twitter.com/KhurramDehwar/status/1488958601888686082
