you can trade for items with friends and you can pick up a second one in NG+, thats how I got 2 guts swords

I don't think the weapon is a random drop, I got it first kill and never seen another one after that. I didn't farm the mobs though

The big hammer is on a corpse somewhere so you only get one. Or a chest, I can't remember. I don't think it's a regular drop anyway.
