Lakelands loving rock, they're weird and I love them. Ennerdale is definitely the "main" one of the G&H blends, but I like any of their aromatics that I've been able to try (Chocolate Flake, Rum Flake, brown scented, dark scented, etc). Ennerdale is quite heavy on the Lakeland essence though as a warning, and will ghost.

Heck yeah! I’ve got a pipe I haven’t been using much lately that’ll be perfect for them if I take a liking. I definitely want to try other Gawith flavors, they look good as hell.

St Bruno is a great intro to that style of tobacco, very nice stuff. I have indeed heard that Ennerdale is the King of the Lakelands. Rum Flake is incredibly rich in taste and fairly high in nicotine, as well. I honestly still don't know if I like Lakelands yet, but the non-sauced Sam Gawiths are probably my favorite blends.

Edit: GL Pease Stonehenge is manufactured by Gawith and Hoggarth if you're looking for something that's always in stock.

Good call on the GL Pease and regular Sam Gawiths - I’m certainly excited for this next round of tobacco purchases.

See if they have more and different Semois? Alternatively if you don’t like Semois, I’ll pay you to mule some weird variety that doesn’t make it here :v:

I reamed my pipes this morning, and it’s wild how much of a difference it makes.

Hey, yeah! I have one Goatman Stand left, I can either put the price up here in the thread or PM you or put it on SA-Mart or all three :v

I'll be opening an etsy store or something in the Soonish timeframe; I have a few different designs (right now Goatman, Chicago flag, Cuba flag) ready to cut for stocking - and I'll be open to commissioned designs as well (although I will be up front: That Won't Be Cheap). Right now the plan is to have 'em in laser cut 1/8" copper plate, because that looks really nice. I'll be experimenting with doing some high-temperature clear coat too, but it's been so drat cold and the clear coat needs springtime temps to cure, so that's a bit in the distance.

In other news, HELLO EVERYONE it's warm again and I'm having a Mag46 for the first time this evening!!

I cannot wait to try the rest of them.

E: WØ Larsen whips. It smells aromatic - like chocolate and maple, but maybe that’s just a little topping? Maybe not. But if it’s excellent.

The best part about Ennerdale is that when you smoke enough of it in a pipe, it turns every tobacco afterwards into Ennerdale Lite

NewFatMike
Jun 11, 2015

I tried some St. Bruno and G&H Rum Flake today, and they are just OK. Ennerdale is exquisite and St. Bruno is substantially lighter on the Lakeland topping. It's kinda damp here today, so they may not be able to dry out no matter how long I leave them out. I think the tongue bite was overriding whatever topping I was getting out of Bruno.

Ennerdale is still so good. Strong contender for my favorite - I'm already trying to find the 500g version. I'm really loving weird flavors what with Semois being a high performer in my book as well.

Look up getting a Stellate Ganglion Block. Pain specialist doc administers it. Experimental right now for COVID (typically its for PTSD) but looks promising. A friend had long covid with no taste, smells and general bad poo poo like paranoia and more. They’re a geneticist and stumbled on this as a potential treatment. Got that procedure done and their life has changed. Fatigue went away and other stuff. Anyways, it’s worth a try and picking up steam.

Well I skipped the Jake Wyatt in favor of a Padron 1926 Maduro to celebrate a birthday. I’ll have to sample the new stuff another day. Regardless, the reputation is well-deserved. Surprisingly subdued, spicy smoke. I like weirder and funkier cigars, but it’s certainly a worthy celebration stick.

Hadn't heard of this website before, thanks for the heads up! This'll be awesome for keeping track of some of the harder to find drops, I've managed to grab Sam Gawith and Gawith Hoggarth before but still have never managed to get any Esoterica or some of the Rattray's blends that interest me.

NewFatMike

I've got some cigars on the way (LAdC Rothschild, AVO Syncro Nicaragua, Nub Ct 460), but the things I'm *super* psyched about are definitely the pipe tobaccos I have coming.

Continuing my Lakeland love affair, I have G.L. Pease Stonehenge arriving tomorrow. I adore Ennerdale, and St. Bruno is a little light on the topping, but I still need to give it a few more bowls to really form an opinion on it. A friend accidentally smashed my jar of Savinelli Doblone d'Oro, so I have a fresh tin on the way and Royal Yacht is just going to be something I always have on hand from now on.

For those of you interested in smoking pipes, I made a mistake in spending more on pipes than I did on my tobacco (which still isn't all that expensive even for nicer stuff). Grab some cheap as hell Missouri Meerschaum pipes and just go hog wild on an ounce or two here and there on whatever you can find that sounds interesting, and good tobacco is so worth it over cheap stuff. The easiest way to tell is "if you're pulling stems from your tobacco, it's not the nicer stuff".

The Esotericas go faster than TurboTin can keep up, probably but something like Rattray's should stay up for long enough to make the site useful. Not that I've seen Rattray's in a long time.

You can also sign up for the one-time email notifications for those blends. Tedious but worth it.

Boswell has such a wealth of accessories and tobaccos outside of their own excellent blends, that I really just need to make a habit of checking there first.

Finally starting to smoke the three blends I ordered back on IPSD. Sutliff Spiced Rum, Lane HGL, and M.M. American Patriot. Spiced Rum has a great rum raisin aroma in the pouch, and some of that flavor actually comes through while smoking. To me the smoke tasted less like rum and more like a ladyfinger or a madeleine. American Patriot is great - a light English, kind of like Frog Morton's Cellar, though it doesn't quite have that same funky McClelland richness to it. There's a bourbon topping but it's hard to pick up on. I think HGL is my favorite of the three. A mellow aromatic with a small amount of latakia as a condiment. This is probably why I enjoyed Boswell's Bear Blend so much.

Stonehenge Flake is really good. Regarding topping strength, it’s closer to Ennerdale than St. Bruno, which is a strong positive.

The base blend is really good too. Really dark and rich. The topping reminds me of a creamsicle, so combined with the rich and somewhat spicy base, it’s making a strong impression on bowl 1.

Ooo, glad to hear - this makes me happy to have two tins sitting unopened. I've had to stop opening new ones to try and work through what I've already got jarred, with the exception of the poorly-sealed Sam Gawith stuff that's recently arrived. Having Golden Glow with coffee today, it's a nice straightforward Virginia that seems like it'll be great for hot summer weather.

I finally got around to opening a Capstan blue flake tin. Good stuff, nice sweet bready flavor, I’m really enjoying it. But, to me, the tin note smells like ketchup, and it was very unnerving before I actually lit it up.
