Assuming there is indeed mass discontent in Shanghai over the lockdown, it is proof that China isn't the authoritarian shithole that the China-watchers continually lead us to believe it is. Citizens can literally protest and get their officials sacked and replaced, and they still have one of the lowest if not the lowest death rate from Covid in the world. Meanwhile, in America...

anyone know a good site for daily Shanghai case numbers? BNONewsdesk seems to be extremely inconsistent with their reporting and worldometer, which I was watching earlier, is using an incomplete data set since the Shanghai outbreak started Though the last time bnonewsdesk stopped reporting China numbers was when they went down in March so maybe that’s good news e: looks like the reason is that worldometer wasn’t counting asymptomatic; today’s case count is about 2000 less than yesterdays so hopefully Shanghai has peaked FrancisFukyomama has issued a correction as of 06:29 on Apr 12, 2022 |

They will literally tell you this. They justify doing poo poo by referring to "national interest" or "American interests" all the drat time. All you have to realize is that the US is a dictatorship of the bourgeois class to understand that what counts as "national" or "American" interest is solely the interests of the bourgeois class.

That orientals and occidentals think in different ways is not mere prejudice. Many psychological studies conducted over the past two decades suggest Westerners have a more individualistic, analytic and abstract mental life than do East Asians. Several hypotheses have been put forward to explain this.

Many psychological studies conducted over the past two decades suggest Westerners have a more individualistic, analytic and abstract mental life than do East Asians. Several hypotheses have been put forward to explain this. The methodology at play here is excellent too. Academics ftw quote:The team gathered almost 1,200 volunteers from all over China and asked them questions to assess their individualism or collectivism. The answers bore little relation to the wealth of a volunteer’s place of origin, which Mr Talhelm saw as a proxy for how modern it was, or to its level of public health. There was a striking correlation, though, with whether it was a rice-growing or a wheat-growing area. This difference was marked even between people from neighbouring counties with different agricultural traditions. His hypothesis that the different psychologies of East and West are, at least in part, a consequence of their agriculture thus looks worth further exploration. And such exploration is possible—for India, too, has rice-growing and wheat-growing regions.
