Has Schumer even been on in the last few years? Thankfully I think they might finally be over Chelsea Handler because she was on every 6 months and consistently terrible.

I feel absolutely awful for his children. That’s a terrible age to lose a father. I think I need to watch the documentary on him now.

Is there any idea how much he was actually worth? I hope saving all those ketchup packets and maple syrup samples added up.

Yep. Tune into H101, there's decent odds they'll be replaying any of the 97 aforementioned recent appearances.

She was booked for last week but "postponed" the interview.

Those few times on Sirius where Artie and Gilbert would just riff off each other with the most horrible jokes, and Howard can't control them at all. I was working at a terrible software company back then and had tears streaming down my face because I was in a room full of people and could not laugh. I was digging my finger nails into my palms trying to hold back.

Not much. He was notoriously cheap, but he also never really got a massive payday. He probably had enough cash to retire off Aladdin stints and Aflac, but he wasn't wealthy. There is probably enough left for his family to be fine.

I don't think he was poo poo rich but I think he was comfortable and his family won't have to worry. Gilbert worked steady gigs for a long rear end time. And sure he was playing the Hollywood Casino in Toledo and doing cruises, but they had to pay pretty well and he never said No to a gig. He's obviously not into drugs, drinking, whores, gambling, etc. If Gilbert had an addiction, it was saving money. I'm sure his wife (who seems normal) will manage the merch for a number of years to come.

Was his sister loaded? I know she was a famous photographer but "struggling artist" and all.

I got written up at work one day because I was late returning the company van. I had literally pulled over to the side of the road so I could listen to the entire Amy Heckerling's babysitter call as it aired.

Here's another fantastic Gilbert bit and is a great example of classic Stern. Gilbert and Stern talk poo poo about Jerry Seinfeld and then fill his answering machine with messages.

This channel is now lit up with Gilbert appearances.

Rest in power, you weird, weird little man. If you haven't seen the doc on him, it's a very sweet piece of business and made me really like and appreciate him more. One of god's special people.

I've really come to dislike Howard over the last few years, and the way he handled people like Gilbert is a very large part of why. I feel stupid for ever buying into the myth that he's a decent guy, once you get past his character.

Yeah, Howard himself is at best boring and at worst, an awful part of the show. He's good (or at least was good) at putting together talented people to make good radio.

Mostly it bums me out because I was a real admirer of his, being such a broadcasting nerd. I get offered free Sirius pretty much constantly and I just don't care.

He's an unbelievably funny and clever guy when he puts in the effort, but nothing about any of the shows I've heard randomly in the last five years captured my imagination at all.

I loved Gilbert’s Jackie and Baba Booey impressions too. Everyone on the show did a Jackie voice and a Gary voice but Gilbert took the impressions to a hysterically exaggerated level. His Jackie was an extreme squawking bird voice and his Gary was basically a barking dog. That poo poo would just kill me every time.
