It's disgusting that Keith is importing these assorted tories who are just on the lookout for their own high salary (more than 95th percentile), all expenses paid, sinecures in to the Labour Party and who don't give a poo poo about people (else they would never have been tory in the first place) while witholding the whip from Corbyn who has been a staunch socialist all his life.  It's really going to take some nose-holding, pomade wearing to vote labour in the next GE. (Labour are 2nd to tory round here.)

It's performative cruelty, pure and simple. It certainly doesn't help the people claiming asylum, but there's also absolutely no evidence it will deter "people smugglers" or cost the state less than processing them in the UK, or achieve basically anything other than hurting asylum seekers. There's no logical reason for a policy like this to exist. It's aimed purely at voters who get a warm, fuzzy feeling inside at the thought of hurting black people.
