I saw a clip of one vtuber that didn't seem so bad. It was an anime woman in a lab coat with a cat sitting on her shoulder, and the vtuber was actually the cat.

i think it's odd that so many people on japanese youtube never show their faces or anything, ever. A lot of people don't even want to reveal their real voice, a lot of them use software like voiceroid to make a computer voice and just use that instead. It's very different in comparison to western youtubers who love to put their face center stage in every video or put a facecam in every stream. Or the people who have little idealized cartoon drawings of themselves in their thumbnails. maybe that has something to do with vtubers. I guess. vtubers honestly don't really seem very popular in the grand scheme of things

I don't want to talk about vtubers. Instead I will recommend The Orbital Children, an excellent coming of age story with AIs and hard sci Fi space stations. I'm giving it honorary Lain sequel status, since it has the same sort of big brain computer stuff, but is less boring.
