Well the ogres are Neutral/Hostile after that kerfluffle with Deimos, so I'd assume we'll encounter some resistance.

Such warm liquid quiet...

It's a slow but steady climb out of the valley south ridge. You're soon back on your feet in the denser woods beyond, keeping the river to your left while you work towards where you have recall of the ogre encampment, as the knight showed you. It'll be impossible to miss if you just keep going. Your nerves remain trapped inside their perfect prism.

PRESSURE: [ ♢ ][ ♢ ][ ♢ ][40%]

Gun? No. Sword? Worn open, yes. This meeting will be coat packed and sleeves rolled up, a phantom of angry strength. You want to feel the cooling rivergreen breeze wash over your itchyhot skin. Maybe a swim in the lake beyond if it's safe. There's a lot to think through with this carbonized grace. You-

...ogre! He sits under a waterfall flow within a stone column jutting from the river's churn. His eye is turned on you, but his bulk doesn't move. You drag back from the heart attack and keep pacing.

PRESSURE: [ ♢ ][ ♢ ][ ♢ ][ ♢ ][50%]

Keep the pressure there. Gigantic powerful beings; but you're powerful too. That's true. There's also the parasite in you. Just keep your heart diamond-tight and emerald plated. Keep walking with intent. Shoulders relaxed down, hands open. The manyfold leaves are clinging to you now, whispered longing of the Rivergreen's cooling dark. Look! There, between the bushes; the pale blue of an ogre magi. You sidelong your shrouded eyes to see him carving pebbly wood with careful focus. He's making lovely shapes of the green; angular birds, sharp rodents. He's watching you too, but his bulk doesn't move.

The third one though, met on mildmossed path, stands in the way; he is still young from the dream and managlossed green. His body moves to object you with furious language, face stern and hands moving to motion Stop. You do, and he looms.

"No, shadow. Leave. This is Kaigen's territory - only strength survives within this peninsula of power."

The encounter with the knight from last time showed you the one true way to answer this. You look up, crack your neck, and fire your hands out to grab his. He envelops them easily with surprised practiced response, leaving you hanging on to his fingers as you test his force. His eyes flare, but he reacts as you're asking him. Muscles tense as you eyelock. You speak once he's taking your strength seriously, telling him you're walking in might to the cross the river, and that you're going to express your right to that starting with this challenge to him. Maybe you don't quite speak the philosophy of might, but your body does loud and clear; he understands. He shifts his weight to pull you up and fling you down.

(ST - OGRE) 18 [4]+[5]+[1] = 10 - Success (By 8)!
vs
(ST - YOU) 25 [3]+[1]+[3] = 7 - Success (By 18)!

He grins when he manages to easily push you back, feet sliding across the cooled river grass. But then he tries to pick you up, and his force fails. You're boulder, statue dense, wrapped in silk, in the full of your physique as he recognizes the gap. You pull him towards you before pushing him back, making him lose balance as he falls over into the muddy grass. He's quiet in study of your power, and you don't press the harm. You keep walking the path with your hands up, and you don't hear him try to make sudden charge. He just watches.

Forest ends, pure of the rivergrass begins. Sparkled lovely sad under the iron sky with manadew. A peninsula of mild meadow soft and speckled little trees. The encampment is bigger than you expected, its size matched by a low footprint; the many divine blessings of the disciplined ogres allowed them to survive with less than their mass and mortality seemed to demand. They appeared comfortable as long as they were out of the rain; most of the encampment shelters were little more than collective leafwoven tarps draped long over tree boughs and branch posts, bedding on the grass and with folded strongcloth. Many of them are just sleeping, or in meditative recline. Others read, or quietly discuss together. Most seem to be in pursuit of an art or small martial contest. Not what you thought you'd find, even inside the immunity of the diamond's grace.

Most of them stop what they're doing when they see you meandering down the grassy hill pathways. They don't take up arms or gather warishly yet, but they do become aware and slow to do anything other than watch you. By the time you get near the entry of the grounds, you've noticed that one thicket of well-camouflaged dark green has given way to a sudden blot of black. Several figures, and one especially huge one, have emerged and converged to come meet out at where you are, the other ogres conceding to the sight after a few visual cues.

You decide to slow to a crawl step when they near. They slow their roll as well, noticing your neutral stance. The black blankets come off, and you see why they wore them. Two of the ogres are colored a brilliant swirl of purples, streaked with gold. An affixtion signet of their royal strength. But that was secondary to the incredible All-Blue hue of the biggest one standing before you, his frame emblematic of Might in a way that was second only to the Emperor he faithed under.

The darkest true ogre blue introduces himself to you. "You. I think I know you. I am Basanater, King. I care for the core stationed here in defense of only itself. There's a peace. Don't challenge it."

PRESSURE: [ ♢ ][ ♢ ][ ♢ ][ ♢ ][ ♢ ]60%]

He's ready. He's set to fight deadmad end. Why, though? What does he know? No, it's what he DOESN'T know, the Silver whispers in the margins. His language is Mighty Unsure. He knows there's Threat, there's Terror, there's Trauma, but not from where or whom or when or why. But you, a shadow walking with clear intent into this place- he knows something is up. What has he heard? There's an itch. You'd speak, but he interrupts himself.

"The Rivergreen is wounded. The apples are growing out of control. The holy land east is gone mad, its tower folded. Now you're here. This is Hell's omen! Shadow, walk out, or prove this is a kindness!"

The perfect blue muscular hue is strained tense. Basanater's eyes are royally bright, his crown gleaming with the proof of his immense strength and physical skill. He gestures every word with his black-robed body, showing his passionate stress as he seeks to overwhelm you with height and impatience. You need to choose how to respond to the King, and the kaleidoscope diamond of your third eye mind isn't helping with the spray of colorwide ideas.

You...

Call Gespenst!
So if I'm getting this right, he's made a connection between our presence here and the fall of Bleeder's tower, naming us "King" in the process and as a result isn't sure whether he wants us around? That's...actually pretty concerning, since I'm pretty sure we haven't gone around advertising that we're taking out Lords. Which means that, somehow, we're known beyond our deeds. Even when we don't know ourselves, others know who we are, what we're after, and more likely than not where we've come from. Kaigen has recognized us, and has probably shared our description with his forces.

...Is this is because we met Karsudan at the trading camp and he recognized something in us?

Though thinking about it, maybe I'm thinking about this too hard. Strange shadow person shows up out of nowhere, starts making waves, then Bleeder gets got a few days later? That's probably enough to put two and two together. Still, the fact that we're known as a "King" probably means that Karsudan's told Kaigen about us at some point...

Hrm. This is a tricky one. Grapple-Greet is the "safe" choice, but it looks rather difficult. Probably just get hucked out of the camp (possibly literally) if we failed, but

As for the others:
-think [Murderous Intent] would just piss em off further
-Boasting about beating an Ogre Werewolf and/or saying an Ogre Knight vouched for us would get an unimpressed "And?"
-Ambassador of Ulthar gets a raised eyebrow, stands to hurt our position in the dream and potentially here as well. Also suspect it won't impress the big ogre much.
-Cheeseburger is a hit/miss deal. Better be a really impressive burger if we don't want to tick em off with the blatant bribe.
-I... Don't remember Karsudan that well, honestly. But a quick look suggests we left quite the impression.

Went with Karsudan and the gigantic wolf m'self; think I'd rather gamble on Karsudan putting in the right word for us over the alternatives.

Yeah, the king being referred to here is Basanater. Also, agreed on ogre knight and ogre werewolf being probably not that impressive.

That STR check looks too hard too. Best we can succeed is by 22, with a critical roll, and Basanater rolling a critical miss, would succeed by 22. Ignoring criticals modifying the results, they would at best match each other.

I kinda want to vote for the cheeseburger. It's got us out of some situations already. Karsudan might be a okay answer too.

Also, info on Karsudan:

The tigergild comes into more complex focus across the endless mental landscape of sprouting mushrooms. He's so worried. He's so anxious. It's so scary. It's so bad. Kaigen's destiny is dead. It's gone. His Godstar winked out of the sky, his dreams dark of his loving visions.

Karsudan's faith is the color of crisis, that incredible clawstreak of red-orange-yellow. Hopeless, the color absence, slowly eating its way from his head to his heart. He can't stand seeing his Emperor this way. Kaigen has tried so hard, survived the end of the God's Dream, smiled along with the indignity of service to the corporation, accepted the torment of lunardom, all to have it switched off.

And now. Now. Now. Being on the run. Hiding. Skulking. Fearing. Weeping. Hunted by the miserable suited slavers. Deimos wasn't interested in pursuit, and this was supposed to be an easy moot, a guide to how it'd go down going forward, made safe by the supervision of Momma Logon's awful wisdom.

Then Jono got mouthy. Then Deimos got high. Then the cultist showed up. Then Momma Logon grew angry. Then they started shouting and all the Archpriest could do was distract himself with Kobold (hello) deal and price.

Anything. Anything for the might to smite all these unheroic. Anything to return the love of his dog-fallen Emperor.

Ah...

PRESSURE: [ ♢ ][ ♢ ][ ♢ ][ ♢ ][ ♢ ][ ♢ ][70%]

You're staring up at the superblue giant. His face is the perfect dreamsculpt of organic power, lined with muscles that convey complete violence. You can't outstrong this. You need to think quick. Your brain is lifted by the cooling Rivergreen breeze, throwing Basanater's robe about as he implores an answer. What makes sense?

Well... two things makes sense. The first is a mistake, in that you open your mouth and say that you're not an enemy of the ogres; you've even met another crowned orange ogre, as well as a huge wolf who was one of the corporation werewolf ogres! You are OGRE ADJACENT.

The reason you feel annoyed is that you should have tried to feel him out with the Silver Mind before you spoke up. Oh well. You do it as an automatic habit, the diamond making it clean to spark neurons of mutant blue into the practiced soothe of Silver.

(!PSI ESP β) 11 [2]+[2]+[3] = 7 - Success!

You feel lucky and you remember Karsudan, easily slipping back into the reflective insight of the Royal Ogre Mind. Easy easy. He's thinking it all, right there, spurned by your sudden retort.

Look. Shhh. Soft. Soft. The King is always in thought. Anxious, angry, angry. It's living nightmare. Suffocate. Scream into your arm while biting down on flesh ultramarine. Royal ruin. Your soul is gone and you're screaming empty knowing you're a living corpse who will wink from existence once murdered. It's all dead and you're all living corpses. You're casually violent and weeping forgiving. You can't control your vomit. Organic is nightmare and you're awake every day because dreaming is screaming. How many bad dreams? Cults which poo poo on the divine. Screaming maggots injecting plants and loving in the bushes. You vomit. Reeking hot dryad mutants who killed an entire legion and lap up their blood in alchemy. You vomit. Harassing Fae who hate and masturbate over the fall fall fall of the only dreams to fail the reach of true divine existence. You vomit. Corporate harassers and assassins, liquid-tongue with deals and lies that all fail to live up to the remote hope of safety. You vomit.

Kaigen is smiling and laughing and you're crying and screaming.

Dread. You're going through the motions. Depression. You're watching the faithful die. Disquiet. You're going feral with how powerless your might has made you.

The Archpriest is in and out of delusion. The Archmagi is mad with manic ambition. You're alone in Hell, and you don't even have a soul left to sell.

PRESSURE: [ ♢ ][ ♢ ][ ♢ ][40%]

Hahaha, wow. You almost laugh from inside the diamond, which shines as pressure relieves. This poor superviolent is torn up in two, clear in the reflection. Poor poor bluegiant. He's throttled by his horror. It's so bad for them all! It's doom, damnation. It's End, End, End. Screaming void. He's here in this elysian sad meadow of soft rains and whispery warm winds. There's nothing left but the slow death. There's never been an emotion quite like this, never a challenge of certainty so thorough. You almost want to throw your arms around him and drag him down with the promise of sympathy, but there's no opening for such a sweetness. Where does a thought like that come from? For some reason, you think of false gold, and then return to the reality of blue steel speaking.

"Crowned orange- Karsudan? A huge wolf? You're..."

The Squire pushes the reports forward, his usual military bluster cooled to contemplation. You're all seated outside at a ragged wooden table half mended with airsteel and gemglass. There's going to be a class later today, but it's just the three of you right now. Coffee steams in a pyrite pot, the Sun cascading rays off of it into a wall of goldglow. You haven't touched your cup.

"His forces are moving erratic all over the valley and beyond. He's dipping in and out of the Dreamlands from his gate every day. The six Kings are operating as much on their own as with him. We're not sure yet which are still WITH him with him, and which are going to split. Nothing else is known for certain."

Aitvaras is toying with his sword, feathers flared. Lasers is uneasy too, nibbling at the jadegreen grass of the summer morning courtyard. You decide to broach the subject related to this, so you can finally piece together what they've been reluctant to look at. Because, one more thing is known for certain about Kaigen's recent lunacy; the Emperor of Heaven. You ask Aitvaras, what does he know regarding Kaigen's infatuation with the Ranger?

He's on the defensive right away. The Squire is caught by surprise too; he only knows the half of it, and doesn't seem to get why the chicken is flustered. He doesn't know that the two of you still have a strong patch of thorn in your love. The Guard and its ways was a complicated issue for you, informed by past example and present worry. You still feel that the Ranger coerced Aitvaras into joining, even though it had ended up being a great change for his healing. But the way he likes to keep secrets... it's an old bad habit of his that he likes sublimating into the Guard's culture too much. You both wanted to keep parts of your lives separate, but his lack of communication over some details had upset you enough to need to talk to him about it.

Then again, the two way street. You haven't been terribly responsible with your end of the bargain, and it had cost Aitvaras a few times. But right now, the terror of war erases all care of compromise as the dark old bubbles up somewhere in the back of the black. You have to know.

"It's not that I don't want to say. But this is stuff I didn't even want to find out. It's too personal, and it's a bad topic to be around in. She doesn't like it."

He's doing it again. The little poofty wing-shield thing when he's feeling nervous and on guard. It makes you want to scowl and scold... but you fight your crown, forcing your neurons to first coarse down through the strange new gild of your heart, and bring its considerations back up to the black table of intent. With that accord, you find the difficult power of the open hand. You reach out and gently touch his wing, softening your face so you can clearly say two words that you mean sincere.

(I'm scared.)

Look- in his eyes. There it is! Oh his face is sharpening with that avian lovely, into something fierce you want to see every day. You want to just throw yourself into him and let his wings guard you, because you really are afraid. You want to beg for the confidence of his insight. The Squire is silent, having never seen this out of you two before. Thankfully, Aitvaras breaks the spell with admission.

"...Rienne was the Hero destined to face Kaigen in the past life they shared. When she- when she was someone else. They never met; she died and rebecame, Kaigen escaped into the Dreamlands. Now they have met, but destiny is dead. But Kaigen thinks this means that destiny isn't really dead, not for him, because them meeting was against all probability; he thinks that means there's some secret greater destiny he has to achieve, and he's doing all of this now to fulfill it. Especially since he was a witness on the day it died."

Oh. Uh, that is kind of personal and creepy. But you're immediately glad he told you, because alarms are singing clear. From everything Miss Bella has told you about destiny, Kaigen has an extremely unhinged motivation, and Aitvaras just made it clear how far it was going. You don't want to think again about how much that day had to do with you.

But knowing that about the Ranger knots your stomach a little as you think back through your interactions with her intimidating self. Always with that lazykill smile. The open secret of her werewolf nature. The surreality of her Heavenly power. But even crowned, she refused to rule, insisting her only title of authority within Home was Captain of the Guard. Did the death bother her? Didn't seem to.

But now her destined slay has gone astray, wild mad with soul in decay.

~THREE LEGENDARY PERKS~

ARCHMAGERY
[7 Levels]
Achieved through grueling devotion to Mana, and the insane of an early Dancer kill. Archmagery automatically provides access to the !All Magic power, which can either randomcast any spell in the game, or attempt to force a spell related to a specific effect or desire. It could even cast Wish, at the dire cost of 10 points from an attribute. This brief time of tremendous power led to a number of important discoveries used in later oneruns, as well as clarifying a number of arguments regarding older code dives and found-once-never-again spells. The requirements to achieve it were not and are not clear, but it did involve using only magic, never touching iron, eating an enormous number of pixies, abusing the moonclock, and what the onerunner considered most important; getting the Mana Sapling event, and choosing to pray for its health in the name of 'The Emperor of Hell'. Archmagery also has the effect of causing your @ to flicker between shades of green and blue, as well as raising the local Mana level to High.

CLOCKTICKS
[EVENT]
Achieved only a handful of times by lucky onerunners who managed to make it into Paradise. Clockticks is a ridiculous Perk, giving a suite of existing abilities, as well as unique ones. Clockticks provides the benefits of The Reflex, or doubles them if you already have it. Every single action or event that demands an immediate reflex action will have a new Clocktick option, since you can mentally slow time down to the point you can anticipate anything that isn't faster than light. Possibly one of the most powerful perks in the game, and one that makes fighting Hunter feasible.

I AM
[?]
Achieved during a corrupted onerun. Its legend is that it's never been seen or found in any successful codedive. It was a passive perk with obscure effects. It extended an aura from the character, which terraformed all land within its range to gain the Dark and Holy elements. Will rolls seemed to always succeed, and anyone walking into the aura often suffered sudden Awe Checks or Fright Checks. While the elemental impossibility is strange, what made it legend was when it proc'd against against Hider, causing the game to crash and be lost, but not before the character said the line "My Dad is gonna turn your Megalith into a theme park!!"

You revile, raising your open hands in refusal. No. No, you're not a Hero. You have no idea why you're called one. You...

(IQ - You Think) 10 [5]+[1]+[1] = 7 - Success!

You were pretty cooked on mushrooms at the time, but you remember that you did something pretty soul-invasive to Karsudan. And you didn't exactly tell that giant wolf you weren't a Hero.

PRESSURE: [ ♢ ][ ♢ ][ ♢ ][ ♢ ][ ♢ ][60%]

The King has leaned over during your pause, and keeps eye contact while one mighty blue finger taps the pommel of the clearly heroic weapon. You don't dare speak as he leans back, his face shaded by the thin leaves. The many ogres around the encampment begin to gather with eyes on you, walls of power in humorless patience moving through the jade. You nerve up, but it ends immediate when the King slumps back and makes a face like he just tasted something foul.

"Enough. It's proved. I don't care. If you're not trying to be a Hero, then go and don't bother us ever again, you living omen of disaster. Go deathfight elsewhere; the Emperor comes and goes as he pleases, and I haven't seen him in a week."

He sits with a lean on his fist, crown crooked while he stares at you expectantly. The guards at his side ease into their own staring leans, waiting. Every ogre follows suit, adopting some pose of relaxed menace. You inhale carefully and make the request quick; can you ask for passage? You'll trade supplies in return. There's a pause, and then the King laughs with exhaled disbelief. "Passage?"

Again, the diamond sparksmooths your neurons with that wonderful anxiety-free light, and you manage to speak up to clarify. Boat. Across the lake. To the east. You wait with your sweating hands open. The King leans back lazy, then stands with frightening sudden to kneel down and stare you in the face as he lightning draws the dead dead sword.

"No. No payment. Instead you'll swear, Hero. Humor me. On this horrible thing. Quest for me, and discover what's become of our Fire Legion that walked into that dreadful south. Will you?"

Normally, you'd think this through and try to make a more informed decision. But that sword, the blatantly herodead blade, is right there and everyone can see it and you are absolutely not getting away with that. So you grip the hilt over his hand, and you say that you'll do it - when you next come back to this encampment, you'll let him know what became of the Fire Legion.

You swear.

The diamond helps contain your brilliant confusion. South? Fire Legion? Roll with it, because it means a trip to your destination. You really do swear on the dead sword, under witness of Might and the thinpale leaves, and pray you'll find an answer that satisfies. If not, you'll just never come back! Simple. The King looks satisfied by your wraithword, and allows you to place the awful weapon away. Your arm burns ugly just from the warm weight of it; you could swing it for hours. But now it sits sealed with a promise, and you step back with a perfect thumb on your racing heart, the pressure even perfect.

PRESSURE: [ ♢ ][ ♢ ][ ♢ ][ ♢ ][50%]

But it's not going to encase your heart forever. You need to get out of here. Basanater provides, waving a hand while he leans back to call out to those nearby - "See the Hero safely taken to the other shor̶̢̀͝è̕҉̡.̸"̵̕͞͠ ̢̢ ͏̵̶̧ ͘͟͞ ҉̸̢́̕ ̶̨̨̀͡ ̧̛ ̢̀͢ ̀̀͢͟͡ ̡҉̴͞ ̵̛͢ ̸̨͢ ͏̢ ̨́͟ ̴̨̧ ̀͠͝ ̷̛̛͜ ̴̵̛͞͠ ̢̛́͜͡ ̶ ̢̀҉͏͢ ̧͢ ̵̧͠ ҉̢ ̡͟ ̧͘͏ ̨̢͘͟ ́҉̸̵͞ ̢͟͟ ̴̨͘͡

houlder to see if he's still watching. He isn't, reclined into depressive might. You puff out and hold onto the diamond while you follow the two royal guards. Their stride is mythical clean, unrelenting power parting the crowds of the other ogres as you're led vanguard to the small enclosure of their marine operations. You're not allowed to step down to see inside; one leads you away from the walkways down into the port, to the beach further down and beyond where you wait. Soon the other royal guard rounds the way in a strongskiff; there's enough room for two or three ogres to stand in the powerful vessel, with one or all powering it with swimpoles. In this case, the two guards do the skiffing, while you're made to seat between them on a little box usually meant for cargo.

Soon you're off into the warmdark of the Rivergreen waters. The guards are clearly stronger than you are (though maybe not by much...), moving the skiff deceptively fast as it slices silent through the powerful blue. You've met two Kings so far, of Ogrekine. you guess you've met all three Wolf Kings... but one of them was more of a drive-by meet. Yo-

PRESSURE: [ X ][ X ][ X ][ X ][50%] [THE DIAMOND IS LOSING ITS LUSTER!]

You exhale. You exhale. You cramp up and swallow and keep your cool. You can't yet. Not yet. Hold it in. Do something. Do something. You can't afford to start screaming here panic. Hold it.

(WL) 20(-5) [5]+[2]+[2] = 9 - Success.

See? See? It's ok. It's ok. It's ok. You've done foolish and made a promise to fulfill a promise but you need to do this for Blue, you need to stay true, you want to... you want to do the right thing. Just one right thing, that's it. You're a murderer. You've killed. You're a bad person. You belong in Hell. This is all true and always will be. But you want to pretend you can keep one single promise buried under all these other bad promises, and, and your diamond is going to explode and you're going to start crying and you know the ogres will scream in disgust and drown you and you don't know why these horrible thoughts keep happening you need to calm down you need to think you need to open your third eyes and see-

(Technique - The Silver Mind) 13(-5) [3]+[1]+[2] = 6 - Success!

There. It's ok. You're in trance. You're sitting on a boat. It's taking you to a promise. You're looking inside the reflection silver and your heart is cooled still with its promise of peace if you just clear your heavy noiseridden head. Close your eyes. Relax. Leave the diamond with grace out from under the pressure. Walk out.

ANXIETY: [ X ][ X ][30%]

You shake and swallow hot bile from a cramped stomach. You feel it all veil upon you. You're cognizant of there only being a single layer of hot silk between you and the hate of the world. But you accept it all and let it bleed out into the waters you pass through, silver washing it all so clean while the guards remain to a merciful silent. You keep your hands out and open with relax. You've been so unkind to the Silver Mind. This is its most fundamental and promising practice, and you walk away from it in panic to demand it reflects tricks and traps for your foes. The guilt comes and goes, the silver not allowing you to internalize it. You just understand you need this practice more patient and often.

You're sleepy. Entering and leaving the diamond is a violent feat. You fall into a weary wonder, thinking on how you just need to show face one more time for the Backup who may be at the apartments, nervous of how they may wonder what's become of Bleeder. What to do, what to say, how to survive past the end of day? You think on that holywarm shower, and that strange night starbright, and how you ran east through the dark unn̷̵̷̡t̶̵͘͡i̡̛͡͝l͜͡͡ ̶̸̷̨̛y̶̨͜ớ̵̶͘u҉҉̴̧ ҉ś͢͠͝a̧̨̨͜w̢͝ ̸͠͏̢͘t̴̴̸͡h̢̕͢͝ȩ̀͞ ̢̛͏͏Ş̢Ú̧̧N̴͘҉̴҉

You don't lower your gun. You just relax your stance, and sweep casually. It smells like so many perfumes and you're still shaking knees to jaw. Keep aiming.

ANXIETY: [ X ][ X ][30%] [Aftershock]

You exhale, and slowly, slow- wh. Huh??

Relax. Relax. Assess. What?! Did you- trance out? You were... it was... ogres and a skiff! The silver? It's still there. The same thought is still in your head clean as rain. You tense up with hackles raised to the roof, realizing you're so sick with deja vu that you need to lean over and press your feverish head to a cool rainy stone. Tears flood out, though not from any emotion you can define. You exhale.

ANXIETY: [??%] [Silver Mind]

You assess, and maintain the strange of the silverflow that allows you to simply accept you're here again, for the first time. Right? Your second first. Right. Right. You lean down and press your head to the stone again, tears making your body shake as you heat up unbearably. You drift back into quiet half-waking, trying to make sense of the color blue. You know you're here about a uhhhh... an apartment. A blue bag. Ok. So there's this- you can see it right through the leaves. High walls, lot of them crumbling, the tops of the overgrown cubes vague in the afternoon gloom. Right right. You can manage this. Ok. Let's go. No vomiting.

You squat down by the stone columns of the great walls, and peek around inside. Two apartments stand alive, flowering towers of glass and stone. Sure, someone can see you from their windows, but there's so much overgrowth and greenlife drenched in waterpools that you feel confident that slow movement, and trust in the Silver Mind, will get you inside again without incident.

Well. Which inside though? You look to the ruins of the apartment closest to you. Spilling green as though the ruined stone of the collapsed structure itself was feed for growth. It's taken over what looks like a small park in the west.

You scurry in and end up hiding under a longhang curtain of vines. It's starting to rain again, dribbling down the walls of leaves. You sit there for a while, looking up and down the open air hall. Oh God. You're so hungry. Please. Please. Please.

(CHEESE! BURGER! SPIRIT! ANIMAL!) 10 [3]+[6]+[1] = 10 - Success!

Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes. Yes. Vile food. Vomit food. Bloodshit food. Cancer food. Hellmade food. It's going to taste so good. You dredge magic up from the void of your bowels and scream it into the takeout menu speaker. Meatcheese dinner, please deliver.

The apartments to the east and north both look intact. Northeast looks like rubble and a lot of missing land eaten by the river. There's the stone square center too, with evidence of habitation and color. Should think about which would be best to try investigating first, while there's still light. Unless disaster, this was going to be where you sleep tonight.

So keep your... burger. Burger! Burger! You almost snarl as you watch it finally manifest, a great whorling cheer of lights and joy, weaving into a lovely triple deck dinner that spins down into your hands. You tear into it with a bizarre ferocity, thinking of Sauber and the giant wolf as you annihilate the meal. Oh God. You can immediately think better. Why were you so dreadfully hungry? You laugh and clean up, vaguely bothered by some feeling you can't recall. So you need to do the walk. You need to get this place felt out, and see where to go.

What's best to investigate first?

I went checking to recall what we know of the buildings, and found this update is nearly identical.

We went northeast last time and found the claw machine, as well as Shattershot the clown. Northwest is where we partied with the other folks. I don't think we have any idea what was in the other locations.

Wait, did we always not have our main safehouse listed under safehouses in character sheet? I am suddenly concerned.

The Hideout was never listed. It's its own unique location and mechanic outside of the Safehouse system.

DD: Fondly regard abomination.

I’m going to say southeast. Intact suggests people, and probably not the same people we ran into going northwest last time. IIRC that group included Bleeder’s Backup liaison, and we’d rather not run into them right now if we can avoid it.

Obligatory: Woo, spent the last week-ish reading through this thread! What a ride! What a cool story concept and setting! Love what you've done so far, Black August, and I'm looking forward to seeing where things go from here (and actually being able to vote in the polls!)

Or at least be sure to take it off after wearing it for *two* seconds. :P

And dang, 8 days with no sleep... I think 11 days is the highest recorded time without sleep in the real world. Poor Berserker-character... but mostly poor everyone in said Berserker's vicinity, apparently. Interesting how "Tore (X area) down from sky to foundation" is a trackable thing in this game. I'm guessing that means it's possible for the PC to destroy an area to the point that it's no longer "useful" in any way for resources or grinding (and maybe not even accessible from the map any longer).

And the Berserker had an amazing screaming voice, apparently. An unsettling parallel to our PC's musical prowess. :P
