sexpig by night posted:Yea Lake City Quiet Pills was a total LARP that just started from a weird pedo and his friends last I heard I also remember some development coming out about a year or so ago, but I also remember thinking that it was an obvious LARP back when the Thinking Sideways podcast covered it and that would probably have been 3-5 years ago. It's kind of fascinating because it was basically a trial run of early QAnon, with people building a whole narrative out of "secret codes" and stuff. Except it was a nightmare to try to bring it up to anyone since you had to attach a whole warning about how adjacent everything was to r/jailbait and pedo stuff and tell them to not do their own research outside of other people's videos/podcasts.

Weirder thing is that at least where I was as someone in middle school in America in 2002 it was less paranoia and overwhelming fear and more tasteless/racist jokes and embarrassing oh-rah patriotism and arguments about the war. And that was more a thing for boys and history channel nerds. The Hulu show, Rami, had a scene where the Egyptian main character's friends wanted him to go jerk off in the woods to prove he wasn't a radical Muslim. And that kind of felt more like the dumb energy of the time.

The image host was heavily used by that subreddit until it got chased off the internet, which this forum actually helped with doing in one of our few proud moments. I just finished this a bit ago and it was super good, other than Nexpo's bizarre compulsion to use obnoxious editing in the chapter sequences. I'd been binging Nexpo recently and skipped it, thinking, "Oh, I know the Quiet Pills thing, whatever." But this actually had a lot of interesting details I hadn't seen before, and the story's nicely constructed. If you skipped it because it's old material, give it a try- it might surprise you. (Or I just didn't retain a lot of stuff from my original introduction to the whole thing.)

It sucks because the incredibly frank video that he posted but won't make public is so much more fascinating than the thing he put out to try and keep himself in the algorithm's graces edit: what the actual gently caress at the actual ending of that OVA or some of the footage he couldn't use in the main one for age restriction reasons: somewhere in the middle magic goes awry and clones the MC, so he SHANKS HIMSELF AND THE CLONE VISIBLY BLEEDS OUT AND DISAPPEARS, and then in the final act the protag dies in a bike chase, causing him to enter a dream realm filled with naked witches, at which point his love for the girl wins over the god of that plane so he is revived, and POPS OUT OF HIS OWN COFFIN in a hermaphroditic form fused with the witch.
