A bit tangential to the tech relics, but Hainbach fits into the same pleasant corner of youtube - he's a relaxed German musician with a fondness for old test equipment and ancient analog synths and the like. In his case, I think some of the appeal is that he has a life and income outside youtube, so he gets to treat it as a hobby. (And the most political he's gotten is describing a sound installation he made for an art festival with an anti-fascist, anti-censorship message.)

To be fair to Ate poo poo Guy, that airguns thing is on a different channel. Not sure if his open carry poo poo that constantly gets brought up is as well? I have a semi popular non chuddy gun YT channel, a cooking channel etc... I feel like a functional adult should be able to separate and artist from their art and dismissing people based on their physical appearance, mannerisms, political views etc... is intellectually lazy unless they arw going off on rants that have nothing to do with the topic at hand. Not an ate poo poo superfan so I can't say I've seen all of his videos but I honestly haven't gotten any terrible vibes everyone mentions about him. Ben Heck seems like a nerdy weirdo who is going to die alone and be eaten by cats but I have never seen him say anything truly offensive either. Maybe I'm not reading into it all enough 😕

Ben heck’s channel is pretty benign, it’s his twitter where he goes off. I get what you’re saying, but on the other hand, when I’m watching a video of some nerd soldering and I’m also going “yeah this guy thinks a women should know their role” it turns me off of the whole thing. The art is inherently mixed with the artist. Also “art” is doing a lot of heavy lifting here lol
