CRD is just the right person to present every stupid/genius aspect of it :allears:

He's just kinda boring. His videos are mainly him Retobriting things and reading out some basic Wikipedia-level research. The thing about equipment abuse is true. About a year ago he got a rare IBM computer from Computer Reset (that place is a can of worms in itself) and then dremelled holes in it because he couldn't be bothered to get the right screwdriver, before blowing up the PSU by shorting it with a paper clip.

He also takes a rifle to Walmart and when asked why his response was basically "gently caress you it's my right!"

I thought we were talking about CRD not Technology Connections

Here’s the important part: as far as we know, neither CRD or Tech Connections have open carried a rifle into a Subway to prove a point (8-bit guy). Neither of them are :biotruths: spouting libertarian weirdos who believe a woman’s place is in the kitchen (Ben Heck). And neither are bootlicking chuds bent on straight fascism (like 95% of YouTubers). And neither of them are screaming at the top of their lungs and making clickbait horseshit to trick toddlers into leaving their videos on auto-play (like 99.99% of YouTubers)

So maybe they don’t dress like you think they should, or wear their hair the way you want. They’re not objectively making the world a worse place, and unfortunately in 2022, that warrants some congratulations.

The closest LGR ever got to political content was one video where Clint was wearing an "I Voted!" badge, and like one extremely mild joke about Donald Trump's hair.

Ate poo poo Guy also had a video buried way back where he was holding an assault rifle and expounding on his belief that other people dying from gun violence wasn't his problem. He might have deleted it but someone made an edit where they made it took like an Al Qaeda video. Typical Texas moron.

A bit tangential to the tech relics, but Hainbach fits into the same pleasant corner of youtube - he's a relaxed German musician with a fondness for old test equipment and ancient analog synths and the like. In his case, I think some of the appeal is that he has a life and income outside youtube, so he gets to treat it as a hobby.

(And the most political he's gotten is describing a sound installation he made for an art festival with an anti-fascist, anti-censorship message.)

To be fair to Ate poo poo Guy, that airguns thing is on a different channel. Not sure if his open carry poo poo that constantly gets brought up is as well?

I have a semi popular non chuddy gun YT channel, a cooking channel etc...

I feel like a functional adult should be able to separate and artist from their art and dismissing people based on their physical appearance, mannerisms, political views etc... is intellectually lazy unless they arw going off on rants that have nothing to do with the topic at hand.

Not an ate poo poo superfan so I can't say I've seen all of his videos but I honestly haven't gotten any terrible vibes everyone mentions about him.

Ben Heck seems like a nerdy weirdo who is going to die alone and be eaten by cats but I have never seen him say anything truly offensive either.

Maybe I'm not reading into it all enough 😕

Ben heck’s channel is pretty benign, it’s his twitter where he goes off.

I get what you’re saying, but on the other hand, when I’m watching a video of some nerd soldering and I’m also going “yeah this guy thinks a women should know their role” it turns me off of the whole thing.

The art is inherently mixed with the artist.

Also “art” is doing a lot of heavy lifting here lol
