If I want to play a "Match 3" game on PC with more indepth mechanics to it than Bejeweled but preferably without gacha or porn in it, what should I look at?

Puzzles and Dragons was fun but I don't wanna play games on my phone.

Which one? I looked at the latest one, 3 I think, and it had awful reviews, which is why I'm asking here instead.

I didn't like the MMO-style presentation, personally. It felt a lot more soulless than the NPCs and minigames in the first game.

2 was a dungeon crawler, are we talking about the same game?

It was a dungeon crawler, yes, but it also had a very "parody of an MMO" feel to it, from what I remember. Regardless of whether or not that's a fair analogy, I definitely remember finding the writing tedious at best, and the quests largely uninteresting. I preferred the overworld presentation in Puzzle Quest 1.

The gameplay was probably an improvement over Puzzle Quest 1, but mostly only insofar as they changed the spell resistance system so that you didn't just have a 50% chance of your spells whiffing in the endgame.

Looking for some cool FPS games to try out on my new ultrawide monitor. Single player only

stuff I’ve tried and loved:

Doom / Eternal
Dusk
Amid Evil
Crysis 2 / 3

so I guess I lean most toward oldschool arena shooters, Crysis is basically going from arena to arena just like Doom

Serious Sam: The First Encounter HD and the sequel, The Second Encounter. They have arena-based level design, with battles against hordes of enemies (literally hundreds), decent gun variety, exotic scenarios and good music. Dirt cheap as well.

thanks! I actually have Serious Sam 1 + 2 + 3 and Shadow Warrior untouched in my library, I'll get on those

I've played Prey, Superhot and Black Mesa before, those are great too. I'll try Prey again if I find it cheap, one of my favorite games but only played it on console

If you liked Dusk and Amid Evil you should check out the rest of New Blood's catalogue, Gloomwood is looking promising and Ultrakill is already great.

Jumpjet, melta, jumpjet. Repeat for ten minutes or until victory is assured.
Any recommendations for a dogfighting game to be used with a stick, that would be simple/fun enough for a ten year old? Both airplanes and spacecraft are good, VR-capable would be a bonus.

Star Wars Squadrons is a loving blast in VR. Massively recommended! While there is some depth to the PvP meta, you don't need to do anything more complicated than "point nose at enemy and maybe boost sometimes" in the PvE. The first time I skimmed past a Star Destroyer in an A-Wing, dodging lasers and shooting out turrets, I felt like I was in a loving movie and my inner child went nuts.

Project Wingman is all this and I think is VR-compatible.

You're not allowed to crumble unless I say so.
Adding to that request (tho it doesn’t need VR) - any recommendations for flight sim compatible with hotas that has a proper dynamic campaign?

I really liked the flight modeling/feel of IL-2 but the campaigns are boring as hell and/or have literally no effect on the overall ‘campaign’

I’d be cool with non-combat sims too but as long as there’s a proper campaign of some sort which I can’t seem to find.

I’ve played SW:Squadrons and bounced off it. Chorus was cool but I’m not a fan of ‘boss battles’ and magic attacks with my fighter.

Is Everspace 2 what I’m looking for?

If you’re fine with a proper high fidelity flight sim, Falcon BMS is the best flight sim with the best dynamic campaign. No VR sadly, but the dynamic campaign engine is loving outstanding and could be it’s own game. You can even take over from the AI and plan the entire war (and you can do a variety of wars in a variety of theatres, Korea, the Balkans, etc) but the AI is very effective.

If you want IL-2 to have a better campaign, try the Pat Wilson Campaign Generator, and there’s a whole host of Microsoft Flight Sim business campaign add ons.

House of the Dying Sun is simple, VR ready and has a good length campaign. I'd say it's more made for gamepad than joystick but other than that it's a good time

Es2 isn't a sim, it's very arcade in its gameplay and is a looter shooter at heart. I don't even know if you can use a joystick with it natively. It IS really fun however, and has a pretty engaging campaign and a good amount of content.

I think TIE Fighter is a great entry point into the genre because it slowly ramps up the mechanics, which is great when at first you're still flailing around with trying to get the ship to move how you want it to.

I love TIE Fighter, but it shows its age nowadays. Remapping joystick controls requires external software, and its engine has an old bug that makes modern joysticks jittery. Last I checked, not even the X-Wing Alliance mod team has fixed that bug, though I haven't checked in a couple years.

It's an all-time classic, has a far superior campaign to Squadrons (despite lacking a gay space Nazi), and is one of my favorite games ever, but I don't think it's best for the OP's use case. And I can't overstate how loving cool Squadrons is in VR.

I don't have an answer, but I'm reminded of War Machine's signature move in Marvel Heroes, which can be summarized as "fire everything."
