It's good. Even better in concert, more energetic.

They're going on tour again, grabbed my ticket for Portland.

So posters ITT may or may not remember Noir Deco because, gently caress is getting your hands on Noir Deco tacks legally a real pain in the rear end. Not sure if that's a publishing thing or whatever but I would love to grab some of the older stuff, especially Future to Fantasy on something like Bandcamp. Anyway their new EP is out, they've been teasing this for about 3 years or so?

I cannot do deep dives on many artists unless it hits a headline, can you elaborate?

That gave me a yikes but I have not found that statement. Best I found was a tweet so far.

"No i do not know any member of the band "Deathspell Omega" personally.
Yes, i did wore a T-shirt of theirs, and believe one can enjoy music without having to agree with the artist behind it.
No i am not a Neo-Nazi, but you can only take my word for it - or not, that is up to you"

Oh, wasn't intending to mislead, but I was summarizing not quoting.

I think what made his statement seem worse at the time was carpenter bruts vehement anti-nazi statement in response to finding out they were neo-Nazis vs that lackluster "eh" response.

Rip.

I thought Vangelis had written a synth track for Peter Weirs 1981 WW1 film Gallipoli, but I was wrong. Artist was Jean-michel Jarre https://open.spotify.com/track/4roqhhRarPSjK7V9viFOVU it kicks up a notch 1 min 40 secs in. The album is from 1976.

Kinda mixes their sound from Kids and Days of Thunder. Poppy, fun anthemic chorus. Not as immediately gripping as change your heart of die, but better than all of Monsters except Deep Blue. Glad I already got tickets to see em in Portland for a third time this fall.

new midnight single. i'm starting to regret preordering this album - i'm not really jazzed at all about any of the singles.

e: i went back through the other singles just to check. heartbeat is cool. change your heart or die is aight altho it relies way too heavily on the repeated chorus. i'll remain cautiously optimistic.

Heartbeats great. Change your heart or die was such a banger live. Brooklyn Friday Love is kinda 2010-era poppy, like .fun or something. Wife loves it, and I can live with that, although yeah I'd prefer horror show part deux more. I've already forgotten what avalanche sounded like, so that's probably not a great sign for its longevity.

New theme seems to be more about "normal" rock instruments (guitars, bass, drums, keyboard) with a sax and synth or two, vs than the first few albums that heavily focused on synths, sax, and singing. Probably more fun to play live.

Preordering Kids is what made me stop being a day 1 Midnight buyer and it’s been working out so far. They’re just not a band capable of dropping all killer, no filler albums anymore and its a bummer.

Tyler is a weak vocalist, tho his stage performances have been getting better. And I say this as someone that still recommends The Midnight to anyone looking for new music. I wouldn’t replace him tho, it just is what it is

synthwave is an idealization of 80s pop that refines and clarifies the good stuff, adds modern elements, and turns the tropes of the bad 80s pop into something new and interesting

this is just bad 80s/90s pop

Pretty loving killer. The energy coming from the crowd was pretty drat intoxicating.

I had a lot of fun, picked up a shirt from the merch table. My girlfriend decided to go to it tripping on mushrooms so i ended up minding her a bit more than dancing, but it was an absolutely killer show

the venue had some sound issues i think, the opener was way worse for this (even though her music was good), but there were these really loud, painful sound frequencies that would just drive you insane occasionally that was obviously not intended

the setlist was a nice mix of Leather Terror, EP II, and EP III mostly. There were a few goodies from EP I like Le Perv and Disco Zombi; and the closer was his Maniac cover.

I think I only heard one song off Leather Teeth
