I do prefer the finale format that S7, S8, S14 had with the individual numbers, rather than so. much. lipsynching. The S8 finale was probably the best in terms of matching the piece to the queen.

There's never going to be a Finale style that everyone likes. I prefer the version starting in Season 9, but it was only really really good once followed by relying too much on reveals and stunts. The return to the previous format makes sense considering that they can use the Vegas infrastructure/dancers, we'll see what it looks like if they go Top 4 next year.

Super happy about Willow winning. I really enjoy her "weird artsy" style. It seems a lot more...authentic? I guess? Compared to previous queens trying to do it. She also seems like a very lovely person in general and her friendship with Kornbread is sweet.

I actually really enjoyed this season over all. It was definitely another marathon, but the cast was just so likeable and charming. Even Daya Betty kind of won me over by the end. I know a lot of fans of the reality TV aspect hate when there isn't a lot of drama and fighting but I just really enjoy likable and charming people succeeding at their art.

Finally the worst season is over, despite having possibly one of the best Ru songs and a great top two (with kind of a boring lipsync for the two who were up there tbh). I'm glad I don't have to deal with Bosco's "I'm on twitter and tumblr too much" take on comedy and Daya's low blood glucose induced anger on TV anymore. Lady Camden and Angeria are going to destroy whatever All Stars season they end up on.

The finale didn't get put on Amazon until yesterday and I was busy all day so I haven't watched it yet. I'm happy Willow won, she was my fave.
I did end up getting Paramount plus just to watch AS 7 because I can't deal any more with having to wait 2 days to watch something I've already been totally spoilered on.

I saw the live show in Vegas a couple of months ago and it was so much fun! Naomi wasn't there when we went but I was stoked to see Alexis Mateo in person.

I am one of the few who enjoyed the original song solo performance format of S7-S8 so I was happy to see it return. If they never do another lip sync smackdown for the crown, I will be fine with that.

Hoping all the S14 queens are booked and blessed. I really liked them all.

Happy for Willow Pill. Really amazing looks in the finale there. But please, let there never be another top 5, and please actually eliminate queens in the competition, this season took forever.

Maybe I’m weird but I like season 13. It might have been comfort food for the pandemic, but something about it was really heartwarming and I enjoyed most of the queens. I thought it was a bright spot and didn’t care for seasons 10-12.

I don't know if I can put this correctly but I get really put off when queens wear things that are obviously just money thrown at a look. I loved Willow's Long Arms look during the season (and her "hands up" look) and her finale looks seemed like they were made by someone with artistic skill and not a huge financial backer.

This is coming from someone that has neither artistic skill nor a huge amount of money and is not a drag queen. I just love this show to death.

Willow won the season when she dumped the spagoot in the tub and you can't convince me otherwise. :colbert:

Yeah I saw that post too.

Like, the angel wings look that Courtney Act had were jaw dropping but (to me) were more of an indicator of wealth than talent. Then, of course, she showed that she also had talent so I'm not taking anything away from her - I doubt I'm making any sense. Again, this is just from an outsider's perspective.

Same with the whole "This is J-Lo's actual dress that she wore." Yeah it was a nice dress but that dress wore the queen, not the other way around.

These are things I've heard real adults say while I silently nod and pretend I know fashion.

Along those lines, I have zero CIS men friends that I can talk to about this show. I have one friend who claims gender neutral that is a furry that watched one scene of an episode and declared it "too cringe" and I was like, well I wasn't expecting that. I see a good massage therapist that is 1) close to me and 2) affordable for how often I have to see her because my body is revolting against me. She's pretty hardcore Right Wing so I try not to talk to her about much. Two appointments ago she told me that she can't believe how expensive it is to kill someone on death row when "it seems like everyone can afford as many abortions as they want." I'm pretty sure my silence and tensing up were noticed because she did change the subject. ANYway, during my last appointment she asked me what I watched on TV and I did a very deep dive on Drag Race and how incredible it is. So at least I have the element of surprise when dealing with people who assume that because I look like them I may think like them.

I have weaponized Drag Race and am not afraid to use it.

My partner is straight and cis, and he was immediately into the show because "It's art, and it's loving COOL." :colbert: He's also a huge ally, which I'm sure helps. Nowadays, he has less patience for Producer Shenanigans than I do, but we still love being introduced to a new crop of great queens every season.

As for other straight cis dudes I've mentioned the show around, they couldn't care less (except for the former coworker that kept asking me if I "was sure" that Farrah Moan wasn't a cis woman )...EXCEPT for lip syncing stunts. Straight dudes LOVE a dip/death drop, it's like one of those videos of showing a chimp a magic trick. :allears:

I think I might be spoiled because I worked at a porn company and everyone was cool with drag queen, punk rockers, goths, etc....

But even after that I have met so many straight men that were just happy to hang out (no sex obviously). It may be because I supplied the beer and vodka.

I have done a lot of weeding around my friends but the amount of toxic masculinity around all of the people I met for 20 years in the military is overwhelming. Shocking, I know. I moved in with my (now) wife 8 years ago and told her that I wasn't interested in the show at all but that I would sit next to her and read a book or whatever since she was a huge fan. That was Bianca's season and it took me all of 5 minutes to decide that this was also my jam.
