On my PC the game kept crashing during some Somnium segments (and nowhere else) so that made them extra annoying. But really, I didn't hate them in general even though they were trial & error as gently caress.

I personally felt like the Somniums had a specific dream logic to them, and that a lot of the fun of the game was figuring out what that logic was supposed to be.

I definitely feel like this is what they were going for, but I'm not sure they succeeded. Some of them are better than others (like Ota getting good timies whenever he interacts with A-Set), but I feel like I solved most of them without really thinking along those lines. In short, dream logic is never really required to solve anything. So if anything I think it would be cool if they ramped up the dream logic even further and really made you think about what makes sense to the particular person whose psyche you're rampaging through.

Who knows, it could just be a sci-fi contact lens or something and Aiba is in her pocket or still in Date's eye.

I seriously expected the twist was going to be Aiba's predictive powers tied in with the multiple timelines the game presented, and every time she used her predictive powers she was actually generating multiple timelines to find the one she wanted. So for example she creates a million dead Dates before finding the one who survives the shootout, etc.

I wouldn't even care if there were no interactive gameplay elements at all: you could give me an auto-choose-everything option and I'd be down to never press any buttons, the writing / characterization / voice acting was so good.

But I am kinda hopin' they go off the rails with the Wadjet System stuff 'cause that felt like a thread that never really got solved. One could write it off as a fever tumor dream but I approached the game with an all statements are literally true mindset and it served me pretty well.

Regardless, I've yet to play an Uchikoshi game I have not enjoyed. And that most definitely includes Pepsiman.

The PC version definitely had some technical issues. Hopefully, the sequel can be more polished and stable.

Date seems way too central to both Mizuki and Aiba's characters to just... not bring up at all. But you can't really bring up Date without spoiling like, the entire mystery of AI1, so...

Date now communicates with Mizuki entirely through pictures of weird dogs.

Zeron
Oct 23, 2010

Date saw some women's clothing falling off a clothesline and attempted to jump after it and fell to his death. Everyone is so embarrassed by the way he died that they've collectively decided to just pretend he never existed.

Alternatively the gimmick is that Aiba has a underage protection feature installed, which had the unfortunate side effect of making Date unable to interact with Mizuki.

Either that or it's the timeline continuing off from the Ota ending. That's the only one where Saito Sejima hadn't been caught yet.

This is gonna be a weird rear end game and I'm gonna love it.

I'm guessing they're going to do some sort of alternate timeline here where the first game didn't actually happen the way we saw it. Maybe Date managed to switch bodies with Saito and ran off of something. Or maybe he's dead and his body is the one cut in half.

I love how the trailers are all serious and mind-bendy and dramatic and while those things are all true about the game, it's also gonna be goofy as all get-out.

I'd call it tonal whiplash but honestly I can't think of a situation where I'd be disappointed when whatever I was expecting was replaced by that much silliness.
