To quote myself, "It's an odd field. Penta is 37, Psycho Clown is 36, everyone else is not so young. Canek is 69, Ultimo is 55, Rayo de Jalisco Jr is 62, Villano VI will be 57 by the time the tournament starts, Blue Demon Jr is 55 & LA Park is 56." It has high trainwreck potential, which is a good 50% of what you want from AAA.

It's definitely a "give an old man an apuestas payday" tournament. I am excited to see some bad old man lucha and will be pleasantly surprised if any of these matches are watchable.

Right, the mask loser tournament, had already forgotten about that, and despite the ages in some of the others, none even stood out that much to me aside from the Canek match. At least it's not a single-show tournament, imagining a finale between Canek and Rayo de Jalisco Jr with those guys having to work 3 matches in one day each.

Here is Cubsfan's preview for Triplemania Monterrey. I am going to do a ban  that there will be more WMOTYC nominee matches than HM or MOTYC matches combined (excluding my nominations of course).The old man matches seem especially dire except Ultimo Dragon vs Pentagon Jr and Vikingo/Fenix vs Bucks is the only match that looks like it could be really good.

Disagree with Cubsfan's ceiling of "fine" for Penta/Ultimo. Penta never mails it in, and while Ultimo mostly does multi-man sprints in DG, he's still really, really good and he loves working in Mexico. Dream match, at least for me.

Penta loves to mail it in, he was famous for it on the indies. He's a guy who can get away with some taunts and poses and a few big spots. Ultimo is broken down and extremely hit or miss with some hilarious misses, some of them on his Dragonmania shows in Mexico. Can always have Arez and Tormenta attack Sammy and Tay early and temporarily eliminate them from the match, spend most of the time on the outside, and then have Tay come in and steal a pin on a fallen Tormenta, like the cowardly heels they are.
