I'm sure they'd have a better song to use as a closer.

Sad But True. As much as I love 'em, I blame RUSH for planting the seed in the minds of drummers everywhere that they should write and/or sing the songs. It turned Mastodon into just another rock band, and Mike's alcoholism suites are the most embarrassing parts of liking Dream Theater (which is saying a LOT).

IDK about this. I appreciate the sentiment and agree that 'trailerizing' songs is boring and overdone - especially when it's actually for a film trailer like what happened with DUNE, The Matrix Revolutions and The Batman, but be careful what you wish for. Somehow I feel like a nerd whose favourite jams are quirky upbeat covers of brooding songs, is somewhere not far from a nerd who's really into goblin metal, or sea shanties, or chap-hop.

EDIT for content; this was shared with the caption "In case you need to lose a boner real quick."

Yeah they really fell off with their newer stuff which is a shame. Leviathan is an amazing album.

I always recommend Bison BC to the fans of older mastodon stuff. They rule.

In a similar vein of juxtaposition both Clutch and one of Duff McKagan’s (sp?) side projects covered Pink Floyd’s Money. Turns out it goes well as a metal-adjacent song.
