You basically have to start microdosing falls and impalement and poo poo as a kid and work your way up to the point that falling onto a slope from 3m in the air doesn't even really hurt anymore. Serious answer they often practise onto a giant padded ramp, but also once you've hurled yourself through the air enough times you kind of get a sense for what is possible and what's going to land, and you also get good at bailing "safely"

Also keep in mind that it’s a combination of other tricks that he would have already had years of experience with. So while the entirety of the jump may have been new, it’s not like he would have been learning everything from scratch.

I grew up in Switzerland in the 1970s and always called them Mohrenköpfe. I had no idea what it meant & no one ever told me. There's an awesome German deli in Fox Chase, a NE suburb of Philadelphia, called Riekers. Been going there almost 40-years. They would occasionally get a shipment of these in. When I couldn't find them, I asked if they had them, and kept getting this deer-in-the-headlights look from the owner. After a few years(!) of this, the internet came along, and holy poo poo. I made a point to go back to them and explain & apologize. Clued in my sisters as well. Nothing beats a fresh Schaumküsse. The base has to be crunchy.
