Is there a game about the filming of a high seas porno? These seem perfect for that.

Wasn't there some porno that came out around the same time as PotC that kept getting confused for the actual film?

A set of dice harder to read than GW's worst offerings. How do you end up in an internationally renowned house of design and not learn that black on dark green do not make legible text?

Oh and it costs as much as a 40k army and that's saying something.

You guys never went to parties where people played dice. That dice pouch doubles as a dice/weed holder and one-last "all in" to get your money back. Guarantee if you see someone with it they "won it off some guy"

Wikipedia gives rules for a version with a bank, which I've never seen, it's always been winner-take-all with everyone throwing in a couple bucks from their tips. People would make side bets with each other sometimes but that was the extent of it.

What was that dice game Zatoichi is always playing in his movies? He would put a die in a cup and flip it over onto the table so the die is covered. Then everyone bets on even or odd. Seemed like a dumb game to me but he always seemed to be getting into fights over it

I am assuming this is Liar's Dice (the above mentioned Blow Cow). Each player has a cup with five dice and only they know the results of their own roll. You are guessing the largest quantity of the highest value possible based on a pool of all the dice of which you only know your own five. It's like poker in that you're playing based on how other people are playing. Each turn, the next player either has to go over the previous guess (increasing the quantity or the value of the hand) or calls out the previous guess. Whoever was wrong drinks.

In a basic two man example, I might roll 1,3,3,4,6. I could open up by saying, "Two threes," which is safe because I know that there are two threes. My opponent could then say, "Three threes," and then I have to think, "Do they actually have a three, or were they just following what I said?" Back to your turn, you could change things up by saying, "Three fours," and then seeing if they call you or play off of you. I believe 1s are wild up until someone says, "X ones," and then they become static.

Anyway, it rules and is both fast and competitive.

The other popular dice and drinking game is what I call the "sausage bowl" game because it's frequently played at sausage stands in Taiwan. If you've played Suikoden, it's basically the dice game in that. You roll four dice into a bowl. If you get a pair, then you add up the value of the other two dice. Then the other player(s) rolls to beat your score. There are specific number combinations that give you better results. Lowest score drinks. Or, if you're playing at a sausage stand, you get delicious Taiwanese street sausage at a discount for beating the vendor.

I'm surprised more people aren't familiar with liar's dice because it was a minigame in the first red dead redemption, and was featured in one of the pirates of the Caribbean movies iirc

That's the one! There are some minor variations based on where in China you're from but overall that's exactly right. I have a friend who always gets put in difficult positions and always called out so he drinks way more than everyone else, it's really funny.
