I got 32 minutes into Picard, saw there was still a quarter hour left and just wanted it to loving end. EDIT: and Jurati looked so loving stupid as a borg. Just so loving stupid. Like they digitally mapped her face onto a balloon. Megillah Gorilla fucked around with this message at 17:11 on May 5, 2022 |

Pinterest Mom posted:lol no I meant it as a non-spoilery and jokey way to illustrate a general idea of how graphic/violent it gets. "If you'd let your daughter watch TNG S1 despite the mentions of rape gangs, then SNW is fine". Oh man. I just couldn’t believe it was even possible but, well, this is the franchise that turned a main character into a pedophile groomer with a pointless throwaway line and never addressed it again so

Charity Porno posted:From old Trek id argue only DS9 had a good pilot, and even that had some questionable acting/directing choices Yeah, but there is a different level of expectation now that you have 10 episodes in a season instead of 20 something. A modern show that gets maybe 40% of the screen time compared to a older show should be tight and well written, because they just don't have the time to waste.

I like that they used Jan 6th footage because those people really need a crystal clear message we don't want them in the Fandom. They seem to not get it, repeatedly, probably because they are dumb

Picard season 2 is a scientific experiment to figure out exactly how many premises and plot hooks you can set up without needing to bring any of them to fruition

I didn't even finish it, after seeing Q getting a big ol hug from his friend Picard I realized I no longer like next gen The legacy of JJ continues of ruining the ending of everything good, should have known ever since he was in control of Lost that his rotten progeny would wreck havoc I've got a bad feeling about SNW

Q should die and then immediately be replaced with Q, who is like "I must execute my predecessor's last will. Picard, you've been bequeathed to me!"

Picard: lol Soong is such a glorious dick. Khan folder sure why not. lol Wesley. Sure, take Kore. Well that clue that Borg-Jurati left them sure was solved in a very disappointing and direct way. Dang Picard, Beverly is gonna be pissed next season. Or maybe she will die offscreen between seasons like her husband did Everything played out as predicted, which is fine. Certainly better than stupid twists for the sake of having them. I wish the execution was done better though, mostly with the Kore and Talyn stuff. Everything worked out for everyone and they all got a happy ending with some connection. Strange New Worlds: Well that was a lot of fun. Pike continues to be the best. Pike's speech was nice, but I want an alternate ending where a bunch of their population refuses to believe it's real and nukes themselves anyways because they believe in their version of Q / alt right / nazi poo poo / other conspiracy poo poo. Gonna need more than a feel good speech to fix what's broken in society. Big Mean Jerk posted:Y’all Big Mean Jerk posted:Also :chefkiss: at Pike watching The Day the Earth Stood Still at the beginning and then basically becoming Klaatu at the end to help resolve the conflict.

Yeah, they had him on a fun and above-average 2(3?) parter about Singh/Soong stuff but then it also really canonized how apparently even the producers and writers confused Singh and Soong?

Despite all the heartbreak in this episode, the second season of Star Trek: Picard featured brilliant storytelling from start to finish. It built on key aspects from the first season, fleshing out this new world while connecting to the much larger Star Trek canon. Characters were smartly utilized to propel the central part along while developing their own storylines and giving them as much closure as the overarching plot received. Rating: A+

Bearded Anson Mount made me want to see him and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau in a B movie where they play estranged brothers, sort of like Double Impact with Jean-Claude Van Damme and Jean-Claude Van Damme. I haven't actually watched the episode yet, but drat they look so similar.

Another great thing about that SNW premiere? Dynamic camera movements when appropriate that didn’t give me motion sickness and nice slow flat shots for scenes where people just talk to each other. Please keep that one spin-loving director away from SNW at all costs.
