the craziest thing about the videos of destruction after the tornado passed yesterday was that in every single one i saw, the tornado was still going, off on the horizon.

In the hosed up countdown to a major wet bulb event, is India the most likely first? It seems to have a combination of dense population, unreliable power grid/ low ac availability, and climatic conditions that make it look pretty likely.

Yeah, gotta be. Due to "major... event" as wet bulb temperatures will likely pop up in Qatar, UAE, KSA, or Kuwait more frequently (have already been documented) than India just with more negligible impact.

Edit: Mexico or Pakistan are likely too.

I bet even a mass heat-death event wouldn't make a dent in housing prices in the PNW.

That just means new beachfront property just opened up. Also that regulations and building codes should be abolished to maximize profits solve the housing crisis and revitalize a devastated regional economy.

That really messes up Boundary Bay & the Tsawassen ferry terminal. Life on the Island could get interesting with just being down a terminal, never mind whatever other infrastructure gets taken out.

Pity there won't be any advance warning. It would be fun to surf that sucker all the way up the Salish Sea to Campbell River.

Not to mention if the Nooksack delta collapses! Then you'd have a localized tsunami too! Glad Bellingham decided to start building on fill again

on big island there's a bunch of boulders 900 feet above sea level that were most likely swept up there in a huge tsunami. it's widely thought that the islands experience catastrophic collapses, you can see the debris fields from past ones on google maps in the ocean.

https://hilo.hawaii.edu/~kenhon/GEOL205/Landslides2/default.htm

best part is that rising sea levels are capable of triggering them :)

Oahu used to be much bigger, more like the size that big island is today, so i quickly overlaid them. the part of the island that remains and i live on is only one side of what used to be a massive mountain that fell into the sea
