Ichiban bumps into a 7 year old boy who is visiting from Okinawa to see his uncle, an up-and-coming pro wrestler. A series of comedic misunderstandings ensue, but when the dust settles Ichiban has several new friends. Someone remarks how Ichiban kinda reminds them of Kiryu and Ichiban continues to have no idea who the gently caress that is.

By the time of LAD the orphanage kids should be around 18-20 so Taichi could just be a playable character beating the everloving poo poo out of everyone with wrestling moves.

I mostly just enjoyed Y6 for the Onomichi setting; that's basically the most appealing urban environment imaginable to me. I also liked the various characters played by famous actors, like Tatsuya Fujiwara, Shun Oguri, and of course Beat Takeshi. I actually did not realize Someya was Oguri at first.

The game really flys by when you go from purple dot to purple dot without collecting the cans along the way.

I'm in the Time For Talking (ch10) right now. I did the BIG MONEY side stuff, thinking about doing the sewer dungeon before I move to the next map... Which should be soon. At least the enemies need to change right?

I spent a grip of time in Chapter 7 being the best Ichiban I could be.

Kiryu is acting really impressed someone would pay a billion yen to call off the headhunt on him, but dude, you got like 50 billion yen in your pocket, a business that makes a billion yen every 15 minutes, regularly beat up a big man to take 2 billion yen from him. I wonder how much it would cost to buy on the Tojo clan entirely. Maybe a week or two of grinding business payouts?

Kabukicho owns and it’s pretty cool how close it is to the Kamurocho map layout for real, even as far as little places like the parking lot in the northeast corner with all the billboards. Don Quijote is also exactly where it is in the game too.

My wife and I wandered around there for a couple of hours and aside from one pushy dude trying to herd us into a whisky bar it was fine.

Yeah, you can taxi back pretty much right away, and it’s actually beneficial to since the pawn shop bizzarely pays more for your animal stuff than the guy in the village.

i stayed in kabkicho in 2019 as it was cheap and would recommend. you really can navigate it if you have kamurocho ingrained in your memory as i'm sure everyone here does. the real life golden gai is exactly where the champion district is and is cool as hell. if you're a single male traveler you will get regularly propositioned by sex workers and touts at night but that's true of a lot of places.

and if you do get suckered into a clip joint or something, just wait for a dude in a grey suit to save your rear end and then hand him a ¥2000 yen bill or an energy drink. easy!

I don't think I'd be able to handle being pressured to go into places, even watching these night walking videos I feel oddly guilty when the worker out front tries to persuade passers-by to come in and they decline. My trip to japan would quickly become my trip to bankruptcy as I spend my life savings on two bottles of mediocre champagne with a telephone dressed as a catmaid.

still, fake kabukicho feels like the place I know best for having never been there and I bet it would be a real good brainbuzz to actually visit and start navigating via cobbled memory of videogame maps and too many hours of city walk videos. There's also a restaurant I really want to try BIG MEAT Meat & Cheese Factory. It's a basement level restaurant and being below ground inside will always be a novelty to me.

About the sex thing, I doubt any place could be as bad as Thailand(wonderful place). Some massage places are really smart and they look all clean/friendly then you go in and they try to give you a different kind of massage especially if you are a guy by yourself or with other men.

Just a few days ago the PM announced plans to resume tourism in Japan starting early as June, provided you're triple vaccinated, are part of a tour group, and have an itinerary for your group. Plans to adjust these restrictions are being adjusted based on covid numbers after tourism returns.

I've been planning to go with a wrestling tourism group in January for Wrestle Kingdom so my hopes is that by 2023 they'll have relaxed some of that. I'd like to see Kabukicho!

Luckily they did crack down on aggressive touting so it's nowhere near as bad as it would have been 10 or more years ago. In my first year in Japan, 2007, even in a very rural city you couldn't get from one end of the shopping arcade to the other without being propositioned numerous times.

You don't want to feel bad for them though, the substories where you get charged $1000 for a single drink are not an exaggeration and "security" will "escort" you to an ATM if you don't have it on hand.

That's such a cool way to travel, didn't know about that. Triple vaccinated is kind a weird though, I thought most people only got the first 2 doses and booster was mainly for older/riskier people.

Is it me playing weird or is the pacing in Yakuza Zero kind of odd? I go from god Kiryu where I can take big chunks off mr.shakedowns with normal punches since im leveling dragon of dojima at that point. Then I swap over ot Majima and this poor guy doesn't even have the full skill trees unlocked, doesn't have infinite sprint or eating, I keep thinking I'm Kiryu strong and attacking money guys and losing, and worse, i don't think the sotenbori money guys do the x1.5 money thing so I'm not even getting stupidrich for these tedious fights as majima.

I think the cabarets are also just nowhere near as good a money generator as real estate, go figure. It was more fun/engaging, at least at first, but after beating club mars kind of seems like auto-pilot except not auto. At least I can amuse myself setting the Obatarian onto guests, she's actually one of the better gals on the squad lol

I feel bad because I've worked jobs like that, not for sexwork business or sex-work-adjacent businesses, but just being the annoying turd on the street calling attention. I know if I were in their shoes, I would want to get some bastard in there so my boss would get off my fuckin back for a while. got nothing against sex work(well aside from all the hosed up realities of work in this world), but overpriced drinks!! I still remember asking for a beer at a bar, not caring which, and the bartender punished me by selling me a 24 dollar beer that wasn't any good and also that basically was all I had made from the shift I just got off of, and what kind of service-industry on service-industry crime was that poo poo?

the way the world's going everything will be chain restaurants, nobody can ever have sex with you, and everything is a thousand dollars.

Believe it or not, the pacing in 0 worked a lot better than 4/5 imo. At least in 0, both characters were levelling up semi-concurrently. In 4/5 you take each character from level 0-20 and then start all the way over.

Also- you are totally right that real estate is a better money maker in the long run. Cabaret does pretty well in the short term, though. Mostly what I'd say is just try and do both sidestories a little bit at a time. You'll be able to send money back and forth via a substory later on, then much more freely in Premium Adventure. Don't feel too stressed about cash flow unless you want to have everything maxed out before the final chapter (and I don't recommend this for what it's worth).

If anything I found Majima to be was easier to use, especially once you get access to his other styles. Kiryu's pretty good but his styles don't really have anything super busted. Especially compared to Breaker just being able to like, spin through an entire room and completely clear it of enemies. Or Slugger's ability to just shatter enemy guards with little to no effort.

No cabaret does not make as much money as real estate. That’s why cabaret gives you a shot ton of money every time you do a club takedown and why majimas skill unlocks are less expensive
