AM radio guy today said that Vietnam was LBJ and Kennedy's war. He's not wrong but he went out of his way to say that "Nixon ended it", completely ignoring the proven fact that Dick actually worked behind the scenes to extend it as well as never mentioning the war crimes he committed. He also glossed over how, at the time, it was the dirty liberal left wing hippies fighting to end it while the dug in conservatives were railing on draft dodgers, blaming the media for our loss, trying to lock up Muhammed Ali and clamoring for us to drop nukes and poo poo as they cheered on the cops beating up people protesting against it. I don't see it in most of the reporting on him but Rufo - the number one guy pushing the anti-public school campaign with the CRT and now grooming hysteria - got his start at the Discovery Institute which was the number one group pushing for teaching creationism in schools during the Bush years. The key to that line is that it's 'indoctrination' when being taught liberal stuff like truth, documented historical facts, and observable reality. If you're learning that Columbus found a pristine wilderness, Europeans came over, nothing happened for a few hundred years, we beat the Nazis, ended racism and made perfect technology that has no environmental impact that's being 'educated' in school.

The suggestion they gave was something like "Have a government official on the phone with the companies asking 'What can we do to help fix this?'" but I don't know that there's anything the government actually can do to fix it? I didn't know there was a shortage until I heard that, so I'm not sure what's causing the shortage, but it's either "supply chain issues affecting everything else" or "lack of materials needed to produce it" and neither of those can really be solved without legislative actions that right wingers would absolutely not be in favor of. And yeah, I know that the right wing method is to gently caress up the government so much that they're incapable of doing things and then go "See? The government can't help, that's why it's bad and we should get rid of it." But asking "Why aren't they doing anything to help?" implies that there is a way government can't help, they just aren't doing it. It's just that if the government did do something to help, they'd whine about tyranny and inflation and whatever.
