We joke about the UK 'WWE tribute' shows, but there's tons of low level indie guys who try and get over/booked based on being the Great Value version of Sting or Samoa Joe or Malakai Black or John Cena. Sometimes the really good ones evolve beyond that and become your Danhausen or Max Casters.

I mean, we had a local stable here (Black Sheep if there's any Southern goons here) that I swear to christ would change their gimmick every year. Like they're the NWO one year, then dude comes out looking like Raven, then they're wearing green/black, etc, so I'm no stranger to dude's ripping off gimmicks.
