His novella about having an eidedic memory is very well written, imho. It's just as long winded as you'd expect. Quite evocative and touching tho

You can get a pretty good idea of what they’re like from this manifesto — but I’ve already linked to that in this thread, so here also is some new relevant content:

could someone link me the video where he talks about his pc? just curious about his build. i've played a lot of cyberpunk, but never finished it so hopefully he doesn't talk about the ending in that part.

I believe the detailed breakdown of the PC build is in the graphics video:

I'm not sure if there are any major story spoilers in this one. If there are they'd just be in the background footage I think.

it's extremely wrong. even ignoring everything else, like rogers video points out dating sims were extremely popular with women. and the genre really did evolve into something that had a capacity for depicting fairly grounded and nuanced female characters. of course obviously not every, or even most, dating sims were like that, but 'incredibly long character study on a few women' as a genre is bound to produce a few things that care more about that than hitting fanservice quotas. and some of the stuff that was more casual and loose was at least fun, harmless, and likable.

I have a pet theory that the reason why the trash became the face of the genre in the English-speaking world is because they're almost all text, and few users are going to scrutinize the localization quality of porn, so those ones ended up far cheaper to import en masse.

I was just joking about the 2d3d lost generation but thank you for the honest reply. I appreciate it.

Haven’t finished his video on tokimeki memorial yet because it’s 6 loving hours of Tim rogers and there is only so much of his voice I can take in a week, but I’ll finish it eventually

I mean, it's also that those games - nukige is the term - are way shorter and way less involved. There's just less text.

But let's be real here, it's easy to go 'the west ignored the good stuff!' but they pretended tokimeki was porn too.

For this purpose, I went against the recommendation of every single Camera Guy I approached for advice throughout season one. I'm sorry, guys: I did not buy the user-friendly camera, or the beginner-friendly camera. I did not buy the one that one of you told me doesn't have too many buttons. I bought instead a Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K Pro, which three of you had warned me against because "you need to spend like $1,500 extra just to make it usable". I'm sorry, guys: I spent that extra $1,500. I then, lest I assume at last the shape of a guy who owns a fancy thing he never uses, proceeded to put my mouth all OVER (figuratively) where that money went, and conducted some kind of grueling procedure usually reserved for persons half or less my age: I went to film school.

Not literally, of course, because that would be ridiculous: I, indebted to the world re: various privileges, kept my educational struggle to myself and unobtrusively sniped from elsewhere any knowledge tidbits I could not otherwise intuit. Anyway, now I know sort of where to put lights.

Did some internet archaeology and dug out what I suspect may be the earliest Tim Rogers video content. We're talking pre-youtube, 2003-04 potatovision quality clips from way back in the early days of Insert Credit.

Basically FFDog was Tim and his friends Julie and Doug attempting to play through every Final Fantasy game over the course of a single night each. Although really it's mainly the other two playing while Tim drinks Dr Pepper and just rambles on endlessly.

I suspect this may be interesting only to hardcore Rogers obsessives, but it is quite funny seeing how much of an obnoxious dork young Tim is, loving guy never shuts up. He was also kind-of fond of dropping the "r" word, like a lot. I guess it was the early 2000s and we were all a lot edgelordier back then, even Tim apparently.

It seems like they gave up on playing all the FFs after IV, as the one after that is a really obscure N64 RPG called Aidan Chronicles, which is apparently so bad it leads to Tim having some kind of bizarre meltdown on his own in the middle of the night.

These were originally short clips of about 1.5 meg each and I've just stitched them together basically.

FF1
FF2
FF4
Aidan Chronicles

Seems like you could also order higher quality versions of these on a DVD-r at some point? I suspect that offer may've expired now.

I'm more amused that Tim was dropping any words that could be considered vulgar at all, considering how much he insists that he has not used any profanity ever after promising his mom that he wouldn't or something like that? He had said it in some video at some point. I guess even he had a time where he had to clean up his language.

Meanwhile I've been itching for Season 2 so much to the point that I've been listening to Insert Credit to get my fill of Tim's ramblings.

He had an announcement on his discord for some podcast he was on last week where he also mentioned he's editing the next video. I think he quit social media otherwise, which I'm never going to blame anyone for in general, but was probably an especially good idea in his case. IDK if it's good for the hype or patreon bux, but it seems like a more sane and sustainable way to operate than... whatever went on with the cyberpunk review

I deleted my old Twitter account last year and it was extremely the right call. I ended up making a new one that I don’t tweet on at all and just use to get screen shots off my Switch and that is a much better use of Twitter.

Bonus answer the Persona games.

There is now a fan translation of the SNES version Tokimeki Memorial. They added some voice acting and the intro + ending FMVs via the theorhetical MSU-1 chip. Some fixes too like smoother background scrolling. It's a real feat of ROM hacking but still isn't the PSX or Saturn version.

For anyone with vague interest, I super recommend a translation of Tokimeki Memorial: Girl's Side 2 or 3 on the Nintendo DS. Just stellar games. Look up the cover art and pick the one you think has cuter boys.

Bunch of miscellaneous extra videos. There's a playlist of unlisted videos that has a Demon's Souls vertical slice, bunch of outtakes and stuff, the entire missing openworld section of the CP2077 video, etcetera.

What star eater is referring to specifically (I think?) is a bunch of footage of Tim playing games he's not reviewing but is capturing footage of for review related reasons.
