Remember: no matter where you go, there you are.
These recent posts inspired the need the burg for lunch.
Thawed out some of the brisket/beef cheek grind I had left, simple store sesame bun, grilled onions smashed in, and some burger sauce.

Satisfied.

Not to bring down the majesty at the top of this page, but I started working graveyard at a burger place

It aint the prettiest of burgs, but with my employee discount its only $2.23. I change it up by swapping sauces around each day.

Who the hell wants a pretty burger?

This is why I think the restaurant chain "Gourmet Burger Kitchen" is doomed to failure - because I don't want a gourmet burger; I want a filthy one.

I don't know if it was the same one but I remember seeing ads for some "gourmet" burger company that despite the name was selling extremely standard-looking burgers with extremely standard toppings. look, if you're pitching me a gourmet burger, I expect at least some of your offerings to be a bit out-there! if I can get more variety from a hole-in-the-wall burger shop, what's the point of you?

... it's been far too long since I've been to a place that makes weird burgers, alas.

Sadly just a few years ago a restaurant near me with 50 burger varieties closed down for good. They were pretty awesome, and had all sorts of cool toppings, I had a limburger cheese burger that was really good

They aren't smash burgers, friend. Unless you're saying they are a smash, in which case you're spot on.

Of all the national cuisines to modify a burger I feel like Korean would be an excellent variation.

Half-smashed? They're definitely not thick burgers, as they get pressed down fairly firmly into the griddle.

I've watched plenty of food porn videos but both this and the alleged smash burgers video seem to only have the natural sound and I find them so much more appealing as a result.

Fried chicken burgers/sandwiches dressed with kimchi are a pretty common thing from some of the more highly regarded places here in Perth, western Australia.

Also Korean BBQ and fried chicken chains are everywhere now, so spicy chicken sandwiches and Soju are a pretty common event now.

That's a really great idea, at the risk of being run out of the burger thread I'll admit that I'm one of those who doesn't like either pickles (aside from kimchi & pickled ginger) or mayonnaise, so I like to get what they provide by other means. I'll try kimchi on my next burger.

There’s all these videos of Korean and Indian and Chinese food markets and stores without any hosts or taking or music, just preparing food. They’re oddly relaxing.

Got the Mac Daddy, which was nice but not as good as their signature burger. Also went to 5 Boroughs and tried their Brooklyn brisket burger. That one was worth the money.

The other day I went burgin'

This is from Becks Prime, a local Houston chain, and it was just as good as I remembered. Got a pretty standard bacon cheeseburger, nothing too fancy. They grind their meat every day, the patties are 8oz, and they grill over mesquite for a little smoke.
