Any idea how the red “lace” background was done? The cat is a stencil on top of free-spray but I’m having difficulty imagining how you would cut a stencil for the background, unless it was done as a screen-print.

Ok if it’s the actual doily used as a sticker that makes sense. Using the doily as a stencil would result in the inverse, which wouldn’t look like that at all- it’d just be a bunch of spray-thru dots where the doily holes are. E: oh wait I guess you could do a solid red background, then put the doily on top and do a white layer for the holes, then the cat on top but goddamn that would take forever waiting for each layer to dry. Nothing was stuck to the wall, so I think they maybe covered a doiley in red paint and pressed it to the wall, using it as a stamp maybe? and then removed it.
