Ligerjack is a cool enough name to make up for that!

It's because they couldn't get the trademark.

Either way, it worked out, because Overhaul gets to be his own character independent of Trailbreaker.

Smaller than I was hoping he'd be, but still a 100% improvement over the CW one. Curious how they'll approach Superion, assuming they do that next year.

Definitely disagree, I love the CW one (and the other CW combiners) because it actually feels like you’re transforming and combining limbs to make a larger whole which needs all of the limbs to be complete. That picture shows what’s wrong with the new Menasor - you can make an entirely serviceable robot without 3 of the 4 limbs (which are just slapped on a frame in a slavish devotion to a frankly questionable animation model).

That’s not a combiner, that’s a big robot wearing purely cosmetic and entirely optional “armor”.

PvP put up a photo gallery of Legacy Tarantulas.

Looks like he's mostly a rework of what they were doing with Blackarachnia. Obviously shorter and squatter, but his hip business, his robot mode arms and legs, even his gun, all look pretty similar. Still, there's enough tweaks there to get a very different looking result.

I agree with this but the frame approach seems more sturdy which is my main gripe with the CW guys and gals. Even with upgrade kits they are a floppy mess.

Those hands are a shame though.

The legs definitely do, at minimum, the back of box photos have them showing the backs forward in "naked" mode.

Scratch that, I misinterpreted the photo.

https://uk.hasbropulse.com/products/transformers-generations-legacy-series-commander-decepticon-motormaster

E: Actually, I wonder if he has the legs backwards in that photo? The diagram of how you attach the leg cars says to me that they should be facing forwards, with his purple naked feet becoming his heels.

Those legs are correctly facing because that's, for some *insane* reason, how the G1 animation model was. The leg robos went on the back in the cartoon.

You don't remember it because how often did you see his legs and also it's loving stupid why would you design a combiner that way but

Yeah

Except the robot that results from that in the CW version is complete poo poo, regardless of one's opinion of the Legacy one. Even with the Perfect Effect add-ons, it's still the worst out of the entire lot.

That's what Menasor is, yes. For good or ill, that's the character. As with so many of the figures they've made in the last three years, I'm glad they've made the character rather than whatever nonsense the CW one was.
