my jaw dropped at that scene and the sign spinner -> riot shield scene. and then i cried at the end

also the fashion they slapped on Joy was absolutely so delightful, you can tell they really had a lot of fun in costumes for this film

saw bad guys with kids yesterday and it was a lot better than i expected the narrative was simplistic but the voice acting was like actual voice acting and not random celebrities playing themselves and the action scenes had some pretty cool cel shading or something going on

the story was also quite socialist the bad guys derive their happiness from heists not because they care about the money but because its symbolic of their friendship and teamwork yet good in terms of actually being a good person and just acting like a good person are also clearly distinguished

did not know until the kids told me that the movie was based on a book series and yeah that definitely explains the very unpretentious script that cares more about establishing appealing characters and a working internal continuity than it does about jacking itself off to the power of its own branding

The books are great

I was thinking the same. I never particularly liked him, and the transphobic stuff (and the defense from other comedians) is awful. But lol at needing to vomit due to him. Ultimately he's just one of many loudmouth rich assholes. The world is full of them.

Mulaney is not an edgy comedian. He cultivated a sensitive fanbase that would go as far as to develop a parasocial relationship with him and his ex-wife. He was the Good Guy to them. He is stuck in a hell of his own making. He wanted to dump his ex-wife and be with someone hotter, so they got upset. He wants Dave Chapelle on his show, so they got upset. poo poo is hilarious. He isn't funny, so this is the first time he has made me laugh.
