my suggestion would be to slow down the last frame of animation by a lot, so it gives the effect of neet doing absolutely nothing for geological eons before 1 thing finally changes. So like the last frame with the full english, and the last frame of japanese -- before it starts to fade -- see what it looks and feels like if those frames are set to last for like 100,000ms instead of the usual 1 or 5k or whatever. Which is more than a minute but it also sets up the thing where if i post somewhere and someone happens to be scrolling by it may be in japanese, it may be in english, it may not even seem animated. There's been people with avs like that over the years, where you can go a long time without ever realizing they're animated, and it's kinda neat. I also like the layout of the eye being centered + border, but that's just me personally. ps while i am suggesting anything you should reduce the height by one pixel

All images have been resized to 180x69 with a two pixel white border. 1) Same speed with border  2) Same speed with furigana Space Kablooey suggested.  3) Extra long 30-second delay on the full text as suggested by SniperWoreConverse  4) Extra long 30-second delay WITH the furigana.  5) And for the truly masochistic, an extra extra long full minute delay on the text.  6) Same as #5 with the furigana.  CHOOSE YOUR CHAMPION. I'm partial to number 5

I agree the minute-long wait of 5 and 6 is best in the spirit of the comic. As for furigana, I say go with whatever the source material does. If the OG had furigana then I vote for 6, otherwise 5.

Did a couple more tweaks, sharpened the text and formatted it more like the comic, fiddled around with curves to make the fine white lines in the original art stand out more, played a little more with the timing, and compressed it down to 20kb.
