And if dead kids aren't enough to spur action, I have recommendations for other career fields. I know that I'm abnormal and mentally ill, but I don't understand how you as an adult human being could sit outside while it goes down. You think you are loving afraid? YOU signed for the job. You can quit and go home. Those loving kids were trying to color in the lines. They don't get to quit. They don't get to go home because YOU are scared. I don't understand how that FL cop that did nothing hasn't pulled a Kobain lobotomy. You don't get to be afraid, you son of Bitch. You forfeit that luxury when you strapped up. This poo poo gets to me at a deep, unspoken level. Those kids are dead because everyone failed them.

The "anything to make it home" ethos of police forces is one of the many things destroying our fine country. You want to get your boots licked for your imagined thin blue line bullshit? Well, mabe that means sometimes you gotta get shot at, instead of having a job that is twice as safe as a pizza delivery guy, and not even in the top 20 dangerous jobs if you take out all of the traffic fatalities. I'd go in with a loving brick- anything to buy those kids a half loving second to get away. (I spoke with my therapist once about going into CPS/Social Work. "Absolutely not. You will end up in prison. You will do fine for a year or so, burn out and snap. There is no way you should consider those fields. Maybe daycare, or Preschool teacher.")

It's been established in the Supreme Court that basically you can't ever put a cop in a position where they're legally obligated to take any degree of risk to their life. Forget the exact case name. Plus the other older case in DC where the cops just let two women get raped over and over and the Supreme Court ruled cops don't have to do anything ever anyway. Somehow cops or courts putting people in impossible situations like the innocent person the supreme court just sent back to death row this week or the young man cops shot for drawing a gun while executing a no knock warrant on the wrong house is okay though.
