Alright, so the second episode made me finally realize what my problem is:

I don't really want Kenobi. I don't want the story they're telling here. What I want is a show in the style of The Fugitive about a rogue, underground Jedi in a seedy galaxy who helps the desperate and fights against injustice while being hunted themself. An episodic story of this space ronin who tries desperately to make the galaxy a better place one person at a time.

I got you, fam.

I liked the two episodes so far. The Leia kidnapping wasn’t hinted at in the stuff we’d heard, so that was an interesting turn of events, and Obi-Wan finding out Anakin is alive at the end of the second episode was great.

I am the sexiest poster in the world!
Here's some thoughts on Obi-Wan so far, kind of a mix of predictions and reactions:

1. Reva's one of the kids from the opening of episode 1, that seems pretty clear. I think she runs into Anakin to some degree during that whole massacre at the Coruscant Jedi Temple and that helped her recognize that he's Darth Vader when she meets Vader later. Plus once you buy into the dark side lifestyle, you're gonna start scheming and investigating the people higher up the chain than you. I'm surprised every Inquisitor we've seen doesn't know who Vader really is. It's also entirely possible Vader really wants Kenobi and pulled an Inquisitor aside and filled her in on the secret, as ammo to use against him. Pretty easy for Vader to be confident she won't spill the beans with how insanely strong in the force he is, and how intimidating he can be. At any rate, there's heaps of ways for them to easily explain how Reva knows, so I'm not hung up on that. Now if they somehow don't explain that at all in the course of the show, that's some bullshit and they will really have dropped the ball.

2. The acting of [spoiler]Reva and Leia hasn't bothered me so far. I've actually quite enjoyed Leia so far, in fact. Yes it's the old child actor problem, but the young actress playing young Leia is giving me major Leia vibes when I see her on screen, and that's all I really want or need from the show.

The overall execution and editing of the show could definitely be better, but it hasn't been bad so far and they've all but promised us a Vader vs. Obi-Wan showdown as the big finale, which seems pretty drat hard to screw up. I'd love to be wrong, but the general vibe I get so far is that it'll be better than Fett but worse than Mando. I also think it's nice that there's always the possibility that McGregor will fully put the team on his back and carry the show into good or very good territory pretty much through the weight of his performance and his character's arc alone.

I appreciate that she is some tiny gremlin of a kid and apparently has been for quite some time. Really sells them growing up into the Leia we know AND being of the lineage we know she's from.

Watched the first two episodes, I was sorta hoping the end of episode 2 with him struggling to so much, hiding his powers, etc was going to end with him being forced to pull out the lightsabre and just effortlessly wrecking the inquisitor lady in a "beware what you wish for" kinda thing on her part. Then the rest of them would be like "ok, we know this is actually Obi Wan now, she was the weakest of us anyway" setting the scene for an actual threat. As it is right now they seem like absolute idiot chumps and not in a fun backstabby way, more a petulant whiny way. Like why wouldn't the grand inquisitor have just killed the renegade one at some point when she kept disregarding orders. As it is the episode ends with that impression still intact imo but the slightly more professional one with the hat seems to be the only one keeping it together, hopefully him and the alien lady make a good showing.

The kid acting seems fine to me, they probably shouldn't have had 3 chase scenes where she runs at the speed a small child runs while grown adults act like this is impossible to keep up with though.

I kinda like how with the kid leia they show her predisposition towards being a jedi by her preternatural skill at reading people, hinting at a disposition towards the mediator role that jedi were sometimes supposed to be (at least in Phantom Menace) rather than the soldiers they usually are depicted as

I’m okay with this. Bring on Geddy Lee and Michael Anthony next as high pitched aliens. Besides, Flea had the perfect look for a low level henchmen.

I'm still somewhat confused about droids in the Star Wars universe. Kenobi first eps spoilers The scene where the dude from BttF wrecks Leia's friend-robot is hosed up either way, but even if mind-wiping and otherwise dismantling droids just for the fun of it is a-okay in SW, basically killing her little friend in front of her, violently, seemed pretty brutal. (Contrast to the killed (?) jedi left hanging from chains, there wasn't a wound on him I could spot) But then later she says to Ben that the droid "will be okay because they're tough", is this a child having child-like hope, or can the droid be brought back to 'life'?

Show's looking pretty good so far IMO. Even if it will be a bit of an adjustment for me personally, since this'll be a much more starwarssy ride than Mando.

I assume that as long as the "brain chip" or whatever is intact you can repair/replace whatever is damaged and bring any droid back to life

I like that the way the scene is edited makes it look like she's going to get to Obi in a matter of seconds, but she's not even close.
