It was definitely created by a wrongheaded fuckman who wanted to cruelty the autism out of people, and I give him no credit for accidentally happening upon some ideas that would show promise later. "It started in barbarism" is basically all psychotherapeutic techniques. And A4A certainly isn't the only organization that's anti-ABA; all of the autistic self-advocacy organizations that I'm aware of are, and I genuinely do believe we should be prioritizing the voices of autistic people in regards to the "therapy" that they're undergoing.
