HM: Kyle Oriley vs. Darby Allen Solid match and they beat the poo poo out of each other. HM: Thunder Rosa vs. Serena Deeb Very good technical wrestling match, best AEW women's match in a while. WMOTY: Anarchy in the Arena This was a mess and was mostly stupid. MOTY: Jurassic Express vs. Team Taz vs. Swerve/Lee Fast paced, lots of fun spots. Y'all need a cold bucket of water thrown over ya during AEW events. Like dogs in heat. WMOTY: Blackpool Combat Club, Eddie, Santana and Ortiz vs. Jericho Appreciation Society (AEW Double or Nothing) Couldn't see poo poo, just a dogs dinner of a match. Awful death match shenanigans. Jericho standing tall. Complete waste of Eddie and his potential to finally rise up the card, stick a fork in him he's done. Hopefully the end of Bryan being wasted and he can move on to bigger and better things. HM: CM Punk vs. Hangman Adam Page (AEW Double or Nothing) A little bit of a confusing build up of Page flirting with heel bastard ego too quick all comes together in a really well worked match that told a good story and featured a lot of enjoyable wrestling. Great ending, sets up both talents for an interesting 2022.

Working my way through DoN, since I didn't get to see it live (gently caress you, work  ), so I'm only about 8/13s of the way throughHM - Hookhausen vs Nese and Sterling MOTYC - Wardlow vs MJF Pretty much the most cathartic way to end this feud, and MJF did an incredible job making Wardlow look like an absolute killer. Great bit of comedy, and it also adds a further wrinkle to MJF's character (he's good at cheating, and using the ring when someone passes it to him, but he's rubbish at cheating when he has to do it by himself) MOTYC - Death Triangle vs House of Black On the one hand, having HoB win every single time these lads meet up is feeling one note (not to mention wanting to see my spooky angry lucha skeleton boys get a win), but every match has been totally killer. MOTYC - Adam Cole vs Samoa Joe, Men's Owen Final I really enjoyed this one, but I am an Adam Cole liker, so there's that. Made both guys look good, giving Joe an out, and mostly free of bullshit. The interference that happened never really felt intrusive, and made sense. HM - Dr Britt Baker, DMD vs Ruby Soho, Women's Owen Final It told an interesting story, in that you've got the dominant force in the women's division against a massive underdog having a crisis of confidence. Some spots felt a bit sloppy, but not enough to detract from the overall quality. While Baker didn't need the win, it also makes sense, and it was a nice change to see a DMD match without the constant bullshit we've come to expect from her outings. HM - Sammy, Kaz and Tay vs American Top Team Really good mixed trios match, with everyone playing their characters the way they should. VanZant didn't look too out of place, and Sammy & Tay were excellent shitheads. I'll get through the rest of the card probably over the next couple of days.

WMOTYC: MJF vs Wardlow. This should have been so much better. MJF is capable of so much more, he was Miz level of cowardly heel here. And those powerbombs were awful. Hopefully Wardlow can recover and move on. MOTYC: Hangman Page vs CM Punk. This was great, Punk very subtly working heel and I'm sure Hangman's warning will come true later in the year. Hangman's had hell of a title reign but it's time he did something else.

AEW Double or Nothing 5/29 MOTYC: MJF vs. Wardlow MOTYC: Death Triangle vs. House of Black HM: Kyle O'Reilly vs. Darby Allin MOTYC: Thunder Rosa vs. Serena Deeb MOTYC: Anarchy in the Arena MOTYC: Jurassic Express vs. Team Taz vs. Swerve in Our Glory MOTYC: CM Punk vs. Hangman Adam Page Anarchy in the Arena is possibly the most fun match I've ever seen, incredible to see how creative these guys can be. Punk vs Hangman ruled, if Hangman had to lose I prefer it in a classic match where he loses because he's ultimately a good person who's still conflicted. MJF vs Wardlow is the best heel comeuppance match in AEW history, so good.

The young guys got to look great, you get excited for Kento vs T-Hawk, Irie is always dope, just hits all the notes you want: everyone is elevated & you are very excited for the big title match a few days later. And even ignoring that it's just an extremely good trios match

HM: Wheeler Yuta vs TJP: BOSJ Night 12 31/05 TJP continues to be annoyingly good and he was the perfect opponent for Yuta. This felt a lot like a jnr version of ZSJ vs SANADA. Lots of technical counters and Yuta finishing his story of gradually getting more violent as the tournament went on El Desperado vs El Phantasmo 31/05 Good storytelling of ELP initially thinking about running the clock down but then gradually realizing he actually wants to beat Despe. MOTYC 26th May WWE NXT UK Heritage Cup Rules A-Kid vs Charlie Dempsey Honestly, this match is improved by the knowledge that it happened on a WWE show broadcast on a WWE platform. Because it does not feel like the WWE (well, for starters, it's actually enjoyable wrestling). Heritage Cup Rules means 6 3 minute rounds. A-Kid had that match that Meltzer raved about in Madrid with Zack Sabre Jr a few years ago & is a really good technical grappler. Charlie Dempsey is Darren Matthews, who was training in the New Japan Dojo in Tokyo before the pandemic & also his father is AEW's favourite violence loving manager William Regal. And you can kind of see his father in him, the little things to make a wristlock look more vicious, rubbing the elbow in the jaw on a pinfall. But then A-Kid has a bit of that too, like when he has a crucifix on Dempsey & then starts wrenching at the chin before converting it to a pin attempt. Just really good, I really recommend it, about as good a match in the sub-brand that doesn't exist as I've seen that doesn't feature Skip to about the 36 minute mark to give it a watch, because you don't want to be watching Mark Coffey vs Saxon Huxley. That said, it does make me wonder "what the gently caress is NXT UK for?" Because this clearly isn't developmental, because how is this preparing you for NXT 2.0 or the main roster? I assume the answer is just "cheap content" but apparently A-Kid is Orlando bound & I'd assume that's the case with Dempsey too at some point.
