I miss them a lot living here and coming from the East Coast, but fun fact, they're actually real bad here because a lot of the time they don't have rain, just dry lightning, and everything here is tinder - not in the good "random sex" way, more in the "a hint of lightning and the state goes up in flames" way. The massive August 2018 fires were all from thunderstorms. So as much as I love thunder and lightning, if we get them here it's also a warning to stock up on air purifier filters and masks.

This is what I meant. Born and raised in Pennsylvania.

I have no firsthand experience, but I believe it's actually the big flat Midwest states that get the most impressive thunderstorms.
