They mostly just seem like your average dorks, sitting around doing dumb bits with each other.

If I wanted to listen to that, I'd just have a conversation. Or friends.

For cast members doing podcasts, RDM and Garret Wang have a Voyager re-watch podcast called The Delta Flyers. I haven't listened to a whole lot of it, but they pepper in some VOY BTS knowledge which is neat.

I enjoy The Delta Flyers, however it’s really frustrating how all the interesting stuff seems hidden behind a paywall.

It’s a case of if your sense of humor is on the same level as theirs or not. I like their stuff quite a bit and they have a good community of listeners. Give an episode or two a go and see if they vibe with you.

That’s kinda why I stopped listening. Their stories were genuinely interesting and I dig their chemistry, but the episodes felt like they were half finished because of how much was carved out for the paywall crowd.

Feels weird when podcasts with high profile hosts who should have some kind of financial stability go so hard on paywalls. Not saying they shouldn’t get anything from it, but when it’s more paywalled than a moderately successful pod it feels greedy.

I hate that the term "pod" has become short for podcast rather than the cast part

I get it

I tapped out after two seasons of piss jokes.

They need to cut like 1/2 of every episode because it's just draggy awful in-jokes and giggling.

Ironically the show is now better than it was in their TNG days because as they work their way up the two-bit hollywood ad director careers they have more to say about production.

The cynic in me says Wang needs it a lot more than McNeill, since McNeill has an EP role on Resident Alien, whereas Wang seems to have ended up on the convention circuit which can’t have been as lucrative as normal thanks to Covid.

I’ll be honest - I’m surprised it’s still going at a regular pace as I’d have thought McNeill would have gotten too busy for the regular commitment!

McNeill is an extremely prolific TV director. Roxann Dawson too.

Come to think of it, ST casts turn out tons of working directors. Nimoy directed 3 & 4, Shatner 5, of course we all know about old Two-Takes.

Yeah there's no way McNeill is hard up for money. Harder to say for Wang but Voyager's still getting played plenty so he's still making money off it. A show with a seven year run that's been on the air and streaming for the past 25 years should be a good amount of cash unless he's buying dinosaur skulls or some poo poo.

If we're talking podcasts, Treks in the City is real good, with Alice Wetterlund from Resident Alien and Silicon Valley and Veronica Osorio. If nothing else look up their amazing interview with Jonathon Frakes. They also have some really great guests. Sometimes it really veers off of Trek, especially if they have a guest who wasn't into the episode, but it's usually funny either way.

lmao there's less than half a teaspoon of potential to be wrung out of the characters from those 2 seasons, are you joking? It's amazing they even kept them around for season 2, nobody is sure how or why they got hired or even half-written for season 1.

Kinda funny how much of a lacking imagination you'd have to have to look at the jettisoned characters and think "good, what possibly could have been done with them anyway?". Every single one of them has an interesting premise behind them and solid actors playing them, they're just not done any favours by the writing and in season 2 a couple of them may as well not even count because their presence doesn't amount to anything more than a contract being honoured or being glorified cameos.

I would unironically have preferred to see all those messy misfits dropped onto Rios' Stargazer to see what spun out of it and Picard jettisoned rather than the upcoming old people reunion tour which at this point I have almost zero optimism for.

Also Khan was still basking in the afterglow of basically jizzing his genetically superior pantaloons at the prospect of actually beating Kirk completely, so he wasn't in the mind or mood to pick up on any sort of secret codes at the time. Khan's superior intellect is always undone by his unchecked emotions. He is an Id-driven motherfucker.
