tether isn't anywhere near depegging. the needle has barely even moved; 0.9985 on kraken right now, from what i can tell

compare to when luna crashed, tether hit 0.9200

That's against his Tesla stock, which is also down but not by much.

Tesla put like 1.5 billion in and then made back .5 by selling at the high. So Tesla could lose a billion which is kinda a lot of their revenue/earnings for a year. But it probably doesn't affect the stock as much as Elon getting owned on twitter.

(Elon probably used the knowledge of Tesla announcing the bitcoin buy to make money on the rise.)

There are real firms now investing real money into crypto, so when this multi-trillion dollar markets goes boom, there are going to be repercussions in the non-crypto world too.

Still *mostly* hedge funds and poo poo that won't really affect anything. Like even at the fake market cap numbers crypto is way less money than the 2008 real estate bubble.

OTOH crypto is going down because it looks like we're heading for a recession or at least large market correction so people are moving out of speculative assets. So if the economy tanks that's not an I told you so, bitcoin was just the canary in the coal mine.

Crypto is a lot more volatile than actual securities and more subject to manipulation. On the other hand, in a big enough downturn, everything moves together.

I feel bad for the relatively innocent people whom saw crypto as a way to get out from needing to worry about money.

I know every sane person has been screaming at the top of their lungs at them pointing out the obvious scam, but still, the pity is there.

Never not gonna be laughing at the true believers however. I wonder how long that stadium is going be called Crypto.com or whatever.
