Jim's now a Blind Cave Salamander!

Now that I've got DallE-Mini running locally, I've been feeding it a ton of fun prompts. I also downloaded a list of 10,000 common words and I'm combining them at random and generating 10 images before repeating. This immediately exposes how bad DallE is when you're not leading it with a goal in mind. Here's custom inputs that were not random:

hyperrealistic spongebob

A psycho planet filled with rainbow creatures

A tree made from rocks

A tree with hands for bark

Donald Trump in Everquest

Claymation Everquest

hitler as a nickelodeon cartoon, bernie sanders digital art, claymation hillary clinton, claymation donald trump crawling out of claymation hillary clinton's mouth

Edit: lol my script had an error and most the random images were unrelated to the prompt

Oh man, the EverQuest ones are interesting. Anything with a really definitive style ends up pretty cool--the underwater juggalos, the trail cam ones, etc.

Going to start looking into Disco since setting it up was real easy. But even generating an image like "A giant tree with bark made of human hands" is proving to be pretty difficult.

Do you think the AI would be able to accurately do something like "horse drawing using a single unbroken line" or "cat made out of triangles" or weird limitations like that?

dall-e mini handles it pretty well

I think it handles the single line thing a little better if you use art terminology

None of the models I tried knew who David Tempier or David Sutherland were so I had to use a more generic prompt of "Dungeons and Dragons monster, simple line art"

The simple line art ones are great! That makes me think there could be a fun game where people add captions and speech bubbles to random line art prompts to make weird comics.

tried great line art instead which seems better

Not sure the model has seen any first edition D&D, the best I got was a later edition cover-looking thing:

"monster, first edition D&D"

Better luck with artist-specific prompts, though only "brom" got any traction:

"Dungeons and Dragons Dark Sun illustrated by Brom"

"monster, Dungeons and Dragons, illustrated by Brom --ar 9:16"
(the '--ar' bit at the end defines the aspect ratio, for these it was 9:16)

Fun render. With pro you have will almost always get a much faster GPU and can render as often as you want instead of hitting a cap and waiting in line. I have enough fun with Disco Diffusion that it's worth paying the $10/month for now. If/when I get into Midjourney or Dall-E-2 I don't know if I'll use it anymore but for now it can do certain painterly styles that latent diffusion and dall-e-mini don't really do well.

Giraffe drawing in 1st ed D&D (midjourney)

Giraffe drawing in Planescape manual

I find it's important to play with weights of individual parts of prompts to get what you want. These have the monster manual part weighed at 2 and giraffe part at 1.

Im impressed, that genuinely looks like the Planescape art style. did they feed this thing every single image on Google

I wonder if copyright law will finally have to be updated. these training data is a huge copyright violation and every picture made by these things could be considered derivative work
