I gotta say I mostly heard about the sonic x Elise kiss as a meme for years and genuinely thought it was a full blown smooch off until I watched the actual thing and it’s just a sleeping beauty peck on the cheek and nowhere near as horrific as people made it seem.

Yeah, I never got why "Sonic and an uncanny valley human woman smooch" was the sin so many people focused on for 06, that game had many, bigger problems from both a gameplay and story perspective to worry about.

Sonic was dead and Elise gave him a Sleeping Beauty style kiss to bring him back (with a little help from the chaos emeralds). It’s a little weird I guess (then again 06’s story had a lot of bizarre elements attached to it) but that’s literally the extent of it

Elise is fine and it’s really weird that people turned what was a pretty chaste, Disney-esque kiss into something weird. Especially when Rouge and Topaz are a pretty common ship anyway.
