Ah yes, the extremely non-jank Creation Engine...

For as jank as the Creation Engine is, it should tell you something that I’m comparing Daggerfall to it unfavorably. It’s jank in only the way early-mid 90s PCRPGs can be.

In Skyrim if you swing your weapon you’ll generally hit something. Daggerfall is quite happy to let you miss for an hour straight because you didn’t roll right. It’s still worth checking out, but just be aware that it’s a product of the time when game controls only made sense to the mind of the person who programmed them and nobody else.

And that assumes you don't clip into your opponent while fighting them and end up stuck. Or through the floor and into the void. Or a Quest Item got spawned out of bounds.

Seven Sirens' big update makes it a lot better, about on par with Half Genie Hero imho, sans virt music of course.

Yeah quite a few, there's a list at the bottom of the page. It's a nice big getting started package that's good to go out of the box.

I think it has the best transformation system of the games that have them, precisely because it does not involve bringing the game to a screeching halt to watch Shantae belly dance and it just contextually transforms you into the wall-crawling thing when you do the right combination of inputs at a wall to climb.

Republic Commando is indeed the poo poo. I have the Xbox and PC releases, played both to death. It has a couple of uneven spots of difficulty, mostly in the holdout sections, but it is a surprisingly competent squad tactics fps from Star Wars of all thing.

Great soundtrack and surprisingly atmospheric in some levels. I still remember the first time I got to the abandoned ship section. Very spooky and atmospheric. I also really enjoyed how they tried to change up some of the more goofy alien designs in favour of more threatening ones.

Oh, and I love the modular weapon system. It's so minor, but so drat cool to see your gun change utility by adding or removing bits. Also has one of the best sidearms in gaming. My brother and I used to do sidearm and melee only runs on the highest difficulty for fun.

I know it's unlikely considering the thread I'm in, but just in case: don't play Supraland. It sucks. For the first few hours, it's merely a flat, uninspired game that works well enough (aside from the janky first-person platforming). Then you get to the point where you need to solve a puzzle using a mechanic you haven't needed for several hours, and rather than finding some clever game-design way to remind you that the mechanic exists (because they're well aware that most people have forgotten it by this point), they let you stumble around for several minutes and then mock you for forgetting.

I ended up buying it when the "lockdown" started in the US. I enjoyed it but there were definitely some issues with it. For free I'd say give it a shot.

My problem is that I went in the wrong direction and spent a bunch of money on random ugprades when what I really needed to buy was a hidden chest finder and I have no idea how I'm gonna raise hundreds of coins without it unless I just spend ages grinding enemies so I put the game down

there wasn't a shop or any signs of a future shop in the place selling the chest finder when I went through there the first time!!!

There's always been a solid foundation of dogshit Star Wars shovelware, it's just that we've blissfully forgotten a lot of the older ones. Just read through the complete list.

E: Yoda Stories, Masters of Teras Kasi, and the terrible Phantom Menace game all released within a year of Rebellion, lol.

I loved Supraland. It's primarily a puzzler, but with a Metroidvania world and some combat thrown in. It all felt really well designed to me; there was only one spot where I had to look up what to do. It also has a ton of secrets, even in areas you wouldn't expect to find anything in.

Jedi Outcast has some wonderful highs and some deep lows*. Jedi Academy is all-round in the middle, which means I'd have more fun replaying it.

*not starting with a saber or force powers, the turret sequence in the mine/prison where the people you need to protect die way too quickly on the hardest difficulty, a whole lot of things in the Nar Shaddaa levels, having to escort a small droid in Bespin that is way too eager to drive through tripwire explosives

Jedi Outcast was one of the last FPS where level designers thought figuring out where to go next should be a puzzle. I distinctly remember being totally stuck for an hour at least twice. I've played some other games that did something like that, like Unreal, and they were never this bad.

Yeah yeah sure whatever you're missing the point, key feature of the game, puttinhg it above the competition in a very objective, impersonal sense

I played it as a kid and when I tried Academy it wouldn't run properly

I should play that whole series, all joke aside. Might have them on gog or Steam or something.

There was a Jedi Outcast custom map that was an arena battle where you had full force powers and all stances and had to fight successive waves of enemy force users starting with a single yellow dark Jedi and culminating with the end boss, which had smack my bitch up as background music for some reason, and playing it with g_saberrealisticcomcat=1 was 99% of the reason I'd install it at any given instance.
