Here is what Griffin said:

quote:

We are nearing the end of what we're considering season 1 of Ethersea. This may come as something of a surprise to you, we usually give a little more lead time before we announce something like that, but we're getting kind of close to a logical wrap up point for the story and characters that we're telling. We really like the whole sort of world and vibe of Ethersea, so it's something we're planning to return to at some point. We're not 100% sure what we're going to be doing next, although we have a little bit of time to put that plan together. There's probably three to four more episodes of Ethersea left in this season, and then we're going to move on to something else and probably return to Ethersea at some point in the near future. With that in mind we're going to be biweekly again for these last few episodes, partially because we have a ton of stuff going on in our personal lives right now, and also because we want to have little more time for them to have the kind of polish we want them to have.

In the last TTAZZ they talked about wrapping up this season and coming back to the setting in the future so it's not really a surprise. They also said it was not building to any kind of "Save the world" finale. Maybe just the timing being now but keep in mind that they'll be at 45 episodes at the end of this season. Amnesty was 36 and Graduation was 38.

One time i prank called a bear buildin workshop and said I wanted my mamaws ashes put in a teddy from where she loved them things so well... The woman on the phone did not skip a beat. She just said, "Brang her on down here. We've did it before."
Ethersea is good and I'm glad they'll come back one day. I have like three episodes to listen to!

My personal favorite was Amnesty but I live in WV and love the Monongahela national forest so I have some bias there.

i don't really care about them going bi-weekly. i just don't think that the campaign, as they've built it, is at a natural end point. devo, in particular, seems to have regressed over the last few weeks

e: i guess they could all die in four episodes which would be p lol

America's Favorite Dumbass

Kind of a bummer but not a huge deal. I appreciate what they’re going for with Devo’s character but the execution seems to have fallen short. If it was a longer arc I could see it working alongside other character growth over time, but that’s a long time for a character to be a dingus.

I’d prefer that they keep things weekly to keep the content mill churning so things can grown and evolve quicker but I get them not having time with all the kids now. Hopefully they’ll come back to that cadence now that they have an editor helping out.

in that last TTAZZ Griffin also said pretty emphatically that he wasn't allowing any more character background that didn't arise naturally from play at the table. (I'm not accusing anyone of tanking this campaign... I just think that's a really good idea in general for the way they play and even more generally for generating comedy.)

Devo is a turd sometimes and clashes with Amber.

I dunno I thought today's episode dealt with that in a pretty satisfactory manner.

Ah, it's a shame they're moving on from Ethersea for a bit but I've absolutely got in a creative rut with a campaign before and needed a break so I get it. I think I'd like to see Clint DM something though.

The superhero thing he GMed between Balance and Amnesty was a lot of fun even if they never really came to grips with FATE as a system.

referring to it as “the toxicity between the main characters” is the most stereotypical MaxFun fan “Dear Jesse…” take tho

What the shit.

Absolutely hilarious to me that Griffin attempted to set up an opposing choice between helping the bleached Brinar open the passage to the next world and helping the Blink Sharks prevent that as if any one of these people would even consider helping the blink sharks, were there even any left

Though I'm not even fully sure they were aware there was a Mass Effect Choice.

Obviously we don't know how this arc is going to wrap up, but ending a live play story not because the world has been saved but because the main characters got sick of each other would be really really funny and I hope that's where this is all headed.

Don't the blink sharks come from Somewhere Else? There could be more, there could be Unforeseen Consequences later on.

All of them, though especially Clint and Travis, always seem to try for a tidy ending where everyone gets what they want. It's been fun to see Griffin punishing, albeit gently, that kind of stuff this time around. It'd be hilarious if the 'season' ended with something terrible happening to all of them as a result.

I think there's a ton of media (Bioware RPGs spring immediately to mind, as did the half arsed end of Falcon and Winter Soldier) where "oh, we'll handwave a solution that somehow makes everyone happy without digging too deeply into how this doesn't somehow piss off anyone else" is how stuff ends. It's surprisingly pervasive.
